Taking best friends to SuzAnna's Antiques......

Why is it when friends come to visit...............from thousands of miles away no less, the weather is crappy?  When I visited Paula last month, California was unusually cold and very wet.  This weekend, when she headed East, bringing her daughter Julie with her so we could spend a Spring weekend on North Carolina turf..............not only was it damp and very chilly, this morning it was actually snowing and sleeting!!!!!

Last week 90 degrees, this morning down to almost below freezing!

No matter, we still had a fun time................including great food and wine, meeting family and friends, and a very quick visit to SuzAnna's Antiques.........

................with time for Julie and Paula to try on vintage Easter bonnets!

I'm missing them already.  It may be a while until I catch up with Julie again, however, I'll see Paula in May....................when we're home in England visiting the Lake District in search of Peter Rabbit!!  Yes, we hope to visit Beatrix Potter's Hill Top home......and cross the border into Scotland.  Having never been that far North in the UK, I'm really excited about this upcoming trip.

  2. Oh you have to visit Hill Top!! A enchanting place to be sure. If you can, take the ferry over Lake Windermere at Bowness and walk the rest of the way. Truly magical! And of course, there is no place on the earth as wonderful as Scotland. At least in my heart! Oh, take loads and loads of photographs and please share them with me!!!

  6. I did my best to wish for sunshine over the weekend and the sun has now appeared, but, unfortunately, it is here in Dallas where I have just arrived for a week of work. Trust Paula and Julie made it home safely and can see the weather is better in the Bay area. Your DH - Bob

  10. You must go to Hill Top while your are here. Don't let the chance slip by. It's worth the extra effort.

I finally remembered to send you an email response a few minutes ago. Sorry, I'm such a forgetful 50 year old. :-(

  14. You are going to love Scotland, the most beautiful scenery - and despite the rumours Scots are the most generous race! (No, I have NO Scottish ancestry...)

  15. Your ladies look quite chic in their bonnets. Cold or not, I know you shared a wonderful visit.

And, what is going on with these cold temperatures? I had to turn on my seat heater for my drive to work.

  16. What fun for you to go to England and explore places you haven't been. I bet you will love B.P. country...I really enjoyed the movie, thought Renee was just perfect in the role.

  20. The time is passing, April tomorrow, soon be your trip to England. I was sending you a reply but the computer crashed, thank you I did get your lovely email. I will be in touch soon.
Looking forward to meeting you. I am watching as the bluebells peep through, taking someone to a bluebell wood, so hope they are all out.
The daffodils are lovely at the moment, lambs in the fields, signs of spring. Just need some sunshine. millyx

  23. So wonderful that the two of them were able to visit! My company comes in next week. Blogger has been giving me fits by not showing my photos so for now I'm going around blog reading, and catching up again as usual.
    Hugs to both of you!

  24. I love those Easter bonnets especially the one the left - such a pretty hat. I hope the weather is going to improve for your trip to UK - neither the Lake District nor Scotland are at their best in the sort of grey, wet weather that we've been having. I'm sure you'll love Hill Top and the area around there - do try and visit Grasmere and Wordsworth's homes Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount - both well worth seeing. Have a wonderful time.
