For the love of blogging..................

Sometimes when leaving comments on blogs I get completely carried away! A friend strikes a chord in my heart......or sometimes a nerve perhaps! I so love what they post I just have to go into depth with more than a quick "great pics, warm hug" comment, I have to reminisce about a memory they have stirred, or share details of a place I've visited and loved, or dote on something as simple as a flower's name. I wish I had time to make all my comments long and meaningful - sometimes I feel so rushed trying to keep up with everyone it's just hard to write a comment of several paragraphs when you follow many blogs. Do you know what I mean?

Azaleas are blooming at last - yesterday I snipped a few to
share with those of you living farther north of here - know
your Spring is still laboring, but it will arrive soon.

Tuesday, in a post titled One Day's Difference, friend Lorrie who lives in one of my most favorite places on the planet, Canada's Vancouver Island, British Columbia, asked a question of her readers on her always lovely blog - Fabric Paper Thread - HERE. Do go visit her, read her question, answer if it tweaks your curiosity, and then keep visiting her because she always has great posts and photos. If you look at the comments she received on that post you will see what I mean about my lengthy one - the question struck that chord and I just couldn't stop writing!

A bit more Spring for those of you still waiting. My bluebells are ringing! All around the garden they seemed to thrust themselves boldly through their tall slim leaves yesterday as the weather heated up into the mid-80's again. These were actually hidden underneath the Japanese cut-leaf maple which spread its branches wide, and unfurled its bright lime green leaves overnight, so I cut the bluebells to bring a little color and lot of memories into the cottage. Growing up in England I was always searching for 'bluebell woods' in the countryside around my home.....they were prevalent and so beautiful.

  1. Mary, I'm so like you when it comes to commenting, as you have probably learned! I do enjoy our friendship through our, often long, comments back and forth. I enjoy Lorrie's blog having found it recently. Thank you for the azalea and bluebell blooms for us in the north. They are so beautiful. It's a beautiful sunny day so far but that nasty storm system is to come tonight and tomorrow with a few cm. of snow and cold wind. Sigh....when will it end??
    Hugs,
    Pamela

  2. I know exactly what you mean about trying to keep up and comment meaningfully on everyone's posts. I tend to be the quick comment and dash off type of blogger. I have never seen bluebells! Yours are beautiful Mary. We have several different types of daffodils growing in our new yard. It has been fun seeing what is growing here.

I am off to visit your blog friend.

  4. I know exactly what you mean, Mary! I generally won't leave a comment unless I have something (that I think is) useful to say. But so many of the bloggers I read put great effort into their posts, and even if I don't have time to do anything other than read them, I want to at least say something to let them know I appreciated the post. That's when I have to decide if a short and trite comment is better than nothing at all! It seems comments and commenting policies are one of the biggest banes of bloggers.

  5. I love the idea of your blue bells ringing!
This year I am going to try for a moon flower vine again - let's see if I can get it to flourish here!

  6. Hello there! Yes ... there are times I could write volumes in response to a post that 'grabs' me. It happens often now in terms of poetry .. it can become overwhelming trying to find the right words, words that describe how the particular poem impacted me. Though I may not leave comments on each post I read, I enjoy everyone I follow. Have a lovely weekend, Mary.

  7. Hey Mary! Very rarely do I leave a comment that is only a few words or one sentence. Whenever something sparks a memory or a chord, I always relay my thoughts. Love visiting Lorrie so will be hopping over there right after this.

My son will be going to college far, far away ... in Colorado. Yikes! I still haven't planned out our summer travel yet.

    Have a great weekend. Tammy

  8. Dear Mary,
Thank you so much for the kind words. I do love your thoughtful comments and use them as examples of how I like to comment. I don't always say very much - but then I don't say too much in real life, either. Knowing how much comments like yours and other bloggers mean to me, I find myself wanting to make others feel the same way with my comments.
I love that you are relaxing and enjoying life, on your own schedule, after so many years of hard work and rushing out the door in the morning.
That photo (of the lake) was taken very casually, without a lot of thought, and I was pleased to see how it turned out. I have never seen water so clear, and so colourful.
Have a wonderful day, blogging friend!

    Lorrie

  9. I live between two bluebell woods in the south-west of England but so far this year there is not a sign of blue. Lots of promise, however, because their bright green leaves are carpeting the woodland floor in spite of persistently cold, wintery weather. Anticipation of a sea of blue and delicate perfume always seems to make their arrival rather tardy!

  10. Love you and miss you! Thank you dear for all you have done! We had a great day meeting with Rhondi, she's lovely! We've looked at some cute places, but haven't had my heart attached to any of them... sigh... We're still crossing our fingers... I'll email later with details. Have a wonderful Saturday! Vanessa

  11. I do know what you mean about the comments. Sometimes I am stirred by something I read or see and find I am restraining myself from writing a paragraph or two.
Nice to meet you through the Photo Challange.

  12. Bluebells can become quite prevalent. I am always pulling them out of our garden, as they do take over. In the vase they look so pretty. I have not had time to visit blogs much recently and I do miss it when that happens. Thanks for visiting me and leaving beautiful words. Hope your Sunday is just delightful!
