Tournon, Rhone-Alpes Region. . . . . . . . .

The morning started early after docking in Tournon during the night. We were ashore
at 8:30 AM ready for a walking tour of the town. The hillsides were enveloped in wispy
fog, the trees showed patches of Autumn color.
Vineyards here grow syrah grapes - the harvest is over for this year.

Our ship - with the dark blue hull - docked under the dawn fog bank.

The terraced vineyards rise up from the small town of Tain L'Hermitage - home
of Valrhona chocolate, one of the leading gastronomic chocolates in the
world - on the opposite side of the Rhone River from Tournon.

Sailing the beautiful Rhone River from Tournon south toward medieval
Viviers. . . . . .the foothills of the French Alps in the distance,

Another part of France new to me and surprisingly lovely.

  1. Everything is so idyllic and picturesque. I had a down day yesterday with the dust filled skies and garbage twirling everywhere. I try to see the beauty but this country is filled with so much trash and sometimes it is hard to look past it all. Best wishes, Tammy

  5. Glorious, Mary! I would love to do something like this. My hubby took a boat cruise up the Rhine once. Amazing views!

  6. Oh Mary. The mist. The hills tinged with autumn. The water. It's all so lovely and I feel as though I've had a few moments in France just visiting your blog.

  8. What beautiful countryside even in the fog. I'm surprised at all the colours in the foliage there. I think more than we have here at the moment. Enjoy your tour!
