Dawn to dusk at the shore. . . . . . .

Early morning. . . . . . sun coming up over the Atlantic.
View from the hotel balcony.
A few fishermen and beach strollers already out on the sand.
One lone fishing boat trawling just off the shoreline. . . . .
fresh catch, and breakfast for many gulls and pelicans.

View south toward Kure Beach and pier.

Lots of surfers enjoying the winter waves.

Looking across the pond to my homeland.

Afternoon beach walk to gather some shells.

Sunset came early after beautiful warm days - Friday, Saturday and Sunday were close
to perfect weatherwise, perhaps the best beach weekend ever for us this late in the year.

  1. The weather looks perfect and the sea as calm as a millpond.
What a relaxing time for you two, no garden to tend or household chores to think about - my kind of break!
Love the pelicans, they are such special birds.
Your photos depict Carolina Beach as a great destination for a beach escape - I wish it wasn't so far away!

  7. What a magnificent view over the Atlantic, Mary. It seems that if you look long and hard enough, you might catch a glimpse of your homeland. The beach and sea are so restorative and your photos capture that essence so well.

  9. How wonderful! I do love a beach weekend in the cooler months. That first photo looks like shimmering gold. Now I want to go to the beach. Your view reminds me of the place we usually stay, as it looks down on the beach just like that, but with different sun events. You see the sun rise and we would see the sun set. Lovely!!!

  10. Hi Mary. Your photos of Carolina Beach are so beautiful. I love the golden glow of the first photo. It really looks like a lovely place and not as crowded as Myrtle Beach. I sure could use a few beach days like that! Hugs. Pam
