. . . . . now there are three!

This morning, such a chilly but bright and sunny one, I peeked in from my
little step stool, camera at the ready, and found mama finch, despite the cold,
has laid another egg. IF she decides to lay the maximum of 6 it's going to be
very crowded in there and, because she is so tiny, I've no idea how she can
possibly sit on all those eggs for two weeks!
Will keep you updated.

Potting Shed and lovely George Taber azaleas.

Today's bright sunshine beckons us into the garden especially as next week
will not be as pretty with clouds and rain expected.  Bob will be firing up the mower
later as the grass is long, and we'll be digging holes to plant two new azaleas and
a hosta purchased yesterday at a roadside stand - all plants grown here in
North Carolina out in the country south of the city. I love buying local.

  1. And they do better too. As a child I loved climbing trees to peek into nests. One of my best memories. I love the picture of the eggs. Do you know what kind of finch it is? I hear many cheeps coming from the houses on my covered porch.

    1. Just the ordinary House Finch Donna - they are everywhere! The male is brighter with red head and chest - poor mama just plain beige-brown. Guess dad doesn't mind though!!!

  5. They are really large eggs Mary - hope she keeps the numbers within her limits. Our lawn was cut this week, and the garden looks so much smarter. I shall enjoy watching the progress made with your eggs from hatching and dispatching.

  7. Buying local is for sure the best. We have a nursery near us that we will be visiting soon. Oh! 3 eggs! She is going to be a busy mama. Your azaleas are gorgeous, as well as everything in your garden.

  8. Oh the sweet eggs. I posted about a bird's nest today too. Your gardens are lovely - ours are quite a ways behind - but they say sunshine next week - let us hope so. Have a grand weekend.

  9. What a fun time you're having with your new tenants. I hope mama does well with keeping those eggs warm. Our lawn has been cut a couple of times; it definitely grows fastest now in the spring. Your garden beds look so neat and pretty.
