Front Porch Musings

Last week I decided to start sprucing up the front porch for Spring.  The fine weather found us out adding what seemed like endless bags of soil to the sides of the new driveway, required but boring work!  After taking a breather, my thoughts were directed toward doing something prettier and a bit more creative!

A quick trip to Jo-Ann's Fabrics where I found a great buy on the white candles I needed to freshen up the candolier.............................that included cleaning the crystals which made a big difference in the sparkle effect!

Grabbed few extra candles for the candelabra.  These I wrapped in vintage music sheets, rubber stamped with Paris symbols, look much more interesting don't they?

Outdoor areas are always fun to decorate.  Having a covered area is great because you do have more options regarding safety from the elements.  My porch is tiny, just room for three wicker chairs and a small table.......with the potting bench at the far end where I'll be sprucing some more soon.

Do you have a front porch?

  2. Just stopped by your blog by chance to see if you got your problems worked out. Love your new "home". I don't have a front porch but have a back porch of sorts in Provence. You have inspired me to do something with it besides just have a table and chairs. I guess I'm just very minimalist.

  6. I love a front porch and had mine decorated rather sweetly back in the US.

It was so large it was like having an extra room. I used to have dinner out there at night and coffee in the mornings.

    I do miss it sometimes.

Glad to see your new space.

Just popped in to peek at your new blog, which is gorgeous, as I knew it would be. Your porch looks very spiffy now, I love the way you style eveything even your outside spaces. The candolier is amazing!
Please don't ever stop blogging entirely, where would I go for my "ooh & aah" moments??

  13. Your porch looks lovely. We do have a porch and I try to spruce it up in the spring and summer. We get a lot of wind here so things have to be solid so they don't fly away!

  16. Mary, I always love seeing photos of your porch. It is absolutely lovely.

I've been trying to spruce up a bit, too. I'll be glad when the painters are finished so I can do more. That perfect birdcage I've been seeking is still alluding me. I just know I will find it some day.

  20. No front porch, just a back deck. That's why I can't call my sweet little stucco home a bungalow. It's "JUST" a cottage. I love YOUR front porch. I like what you did with the candles.
