Early morning in the islands -

Crossing from Victoria, British Columbia back to the USA by ferry, is a scenic 1.5 hour
sail through the 172 named islands and reefs of San Juan County, Washington State.
Leaving early morning, although not raining, it was overcast. Sadly, we didn't have a
sighting of Orca whales who frequent these waters, and birds were few, but the
smooth as glass water, lone sailboat, and atmospheric light was certainly
 beautiful. . . . . . . almost mysterious.

This is peace at its best . . . . . . . and I would like more!

  1. I was not expecting this to be about a ferry ride from BC to Washington with a name like San Juan. 🙂 Very atmospheric that day indeed!

    1. . . . . . and you thought perhaps I was in Puerto Rico Vee!
These are the most beautiful islands, the larger ones inhabited especially by creative people including artists, authors, producers of artisanal foods such as cheese and honey, and of course a large fishing community. Definitely a place to get away from the 'madding crowd'.

    1. Hope you get to visit there - it's such a beautiful place. You can enjoy both Vancouver, Victoria, Seattle, and so many small towns both on the mainland and islands all in one go!

  6. Ahhh! The San Juan Islands are gorgeous and you portray them beautifully. We looked for an Orca when on the ferry to and from Whidbey Island last week; but alas not a one was spotted.
