Bed Time.................

BED.............

Definition: An article of furniture to take rest in or on.

Isn't a warm comfy bed just the best place to be on a very cold Winter morning?

Carl Larsson's inviting Swedish bed.

THIS morning, the alarm woke me early.  I jumped up, turned it off, jumped back under the duvet for just five more warm minutes, but then knew I had to get up and get moving!

I've not had a chance to share with you the tales of my busy work days of the last couple of months. Let's just say it revolves around a townhouse renovation, continuous visits to DIY big box stores, and men hammering for hours on end!  Today I had to meet the carpet installers (re-scheduled from Tuesday when the most recent storm coated everything in a shimmering layer of silver ice) at 7:30 AM. Now, although just 9:30 AM, the still ice-covered back deck is also being demolished.  Another crew has arrived, hammers in hand of course!

Guess where I'll be early tonight, very early..........climbing back into my cozy bed, pulling the duvet over my head, snuggling with my cashmere-sweatered hot water bottle (love, love, love it - see here), thankful that someone invented the BED and all it's many comforts.

More on the renovation story later - meanwhile let's just say, be grateful there are men who work outside in freeze your you-know-what off 23 degrees.  Chipping ice off wood does not look like fun...........laying carpet is definitely the better job today!

  5. Love that bed....you are keeping very busy Mary. I am actually envious, because my shoulder surgery is keeping me quite still. Which is very unlike me!

    Stay warm...snuggle under your comforters....

  8. 23 degrees?? Ohhhh that is so cold. I am freezing when it gets anywhere near 40 here. I love climbing into bed in the winter. Now, if only the dog would let me sleep all night!! Can't wait to hear more Mary!

  9. Wow Mary! Whew! You have so much going on. I agree with you on the bed thing. When I was introduced to "down" pillows and comforters I found heaven on earth. The picture of your bed (in the link) is just georgous. *hugs*

  10. I can't wait to see the results, Mary.

The floor is wide planked pine. It was here when we bought the house. I love it, but I wish whoever had installed it had protected the planks with something - polyurethane, etc. Parts of the floor are the way they were when we first moved in, but other areas have been scratched like crazy by the dogs' nails. It is such a soft wood that it need protection. I thought it had protection, but it didn't!

  12. Love this post! Sometimes we take things for granted and the bed is one of them! I have been away from mine for the past four days and have missed it terribly. I do however love the duvets I've been sleeping under in the two hotels I've been busy staying in. There's nothing like coming home to your own bed though.. Renovation is always fun just as long as the dust doesn't fly.. A hot water bottle huh? Sounds beautiful!

I know what you mean about getting out of a warm bed. I feel the same way every morning when I get up to go to work.
