Whoa September.........you're spinning by far too fast for me!
This month is bringing lots of beauty to the garden as we have at last had rain. Heavy downpours lasting hours, even much of an entire day, and drizzly moments in between.
Although the yellow angel trumpets tooted happily in the early part of Summer, very unusual, they have now put on their more usual early Fall show and are magnificent. Yesterday, when I took these photos, there were dozens of blooms open and a lot of buds coming along. It may bloom well into October.
Sweet potato vine still spreading ~ Knockout rose blooming ~ sad looking patchy grass from our very hot Summer!
This is a tall shrub, now about 5 years old. Tropical in some parts, here it requires heavy pruning down to the ground before Winter. I mulch with compost and fallen leaves and always hope to see it sprouting new growth come Spring. So far it's done extremely well and even better since the huge oak tree next to it was removed last year.

They're just so feminine looking. Something I should perhaps consider planting here in Roanoke. :-)

ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous plant! Our garden flowers are waning but my pots and boxes are still blooming beautifully thanks to the wonderful weather we've had this month. No frost yet but it was in the low single digits (4 celsius) last night! I should be covering things up at night! I'm glad you are getting some rain now. Have a wonderful day! Pamela

ReplyDeleteI still have annuals blooming, but they are looking tired. Soon I will replace them with pansies and mums. After Vegas...if I have any energy left!! ;-D

Wow, that angel trumpet is outdoing itself. And, such a bright, lovely color of yellow. Makes you want to smile and be happy. Hope your week is filled with sunshine.

ReplyDeleteIt's all so beautiful! Up here we've had buckets of rain. I'll have to wait for the sun to come out to see what's left, as the wind whipped everything about.
ReplyDeleteWe have a trumpet vine on our front porch. The wind a couple weeks ago blew most of it over and covered the blooms that were just getting ready to bloom. My husband keeps threatening to take it out, but I am hoping with the pruning this year it will bloom beautifully next year and he will love it. We have dahlias, sunflowers, cosmos, and a few roses right now. Love visiting your garden.
ReplyDeleteMary your garden always looks stunning. Your trumpet flowers are beautiful, and one I admire when I see it on holidays. We have some photos of me standing next to them in Madeira. I have been doing a little gardening, mostly cutting back now everything has gone over. The lovely red berries are glowing on different shrubs, the birds are enjoying finding them. We are enjoying some warm sunny days, so making the most of it. Enjoy your weekend. x
