Joining in Vee's monthly Note Card Party today....we
are celebrating November prior to preparing
for the upcoming Thanksgiving festivities.
I used some old wallpaper designs for my backgrounds on
these cards. The subject is antique and vintage books, all
of which have been scattered about my home in vignettes,
on shelves, the mantel, even on the floor, over the past
few years. Some I brought back from French brocantes,
few years. Some I brought back from French brocantes,
others I found here in local antiquing venues.

ReplyDeleteLove the treatment you gave your photos for Vee's Note Card party. How interesting to read that you are a transplanted Brit living in North Carolina. Our daughter who has been living in North Carolina the last couple years is living with us now while her husband is in Afghanistan.

Love these vintage shots with your books. They are so full of character (and probably characters!) as objets d'art. They would make wonderful note cards. You've combined the books with such a variety of interesting accessories which all work so well.

ReplyDeleteWe have thousands of books, many of them old, but these photographs are just about the most beautifully staged books and backgrounds that I have ever seen! One of my favorite places is a used book store, and these cards give me the same feeling that I get when I open the door and walk into an old, used book store. It's the same feeling that I get when I remember our visits to Yorkshire. (That is a real compliment, in my world.) :-)
ReplyDeleteReally nice job with your note cards, Mary. The vintage books make such a nice subject. I am particularly fond of the one with the books tied in ribbon. Makes me want to slip that ribbon off and have a look inside the books.

ReplyDeleteAll such lovely images. As for crochet, I don't use cotton thread, but do use a thin cotton yarn. Same as what I use for doilies. Thread and teeny tiny hooks just don't work for me. It' a nice hobby to have. Have a wonderful rest of the week. Tammy
