Today I'm doing a little garden work.
Today I'm cutting the first Spring blooms.
Oh my, how they brighten the room!
Yes, Spring is coming so hang in there - wishing
everyone blooming bulbs and bursting buds soon!
I'm headed back to the garden now....sun shining
and quite warm.
As they say, "make hay while the sun shines" and
next week will turn cold again.
Edited - Monday: today I went out and found plenty more
golden daffodils.
I've noticed the leaves appear much shorter than the
stems this year. Another weird unusually cold southern
Winter quirk perhaps?

Mary, I've been in the garden as well. I've a couple of iris in bloom. Does make one smile to see the first blooms ~ hits of spring.

Your flowers are beautiful. It is going to be mid 60's here today, so Kent and I are going out for a walk around the neighborhood. No flowers here yet.

Just as you are getting spring bulbs my red nerines are coming into flower. They are late Summer or Autumn bloomers. It is still very warm here and the time of the year when we often get our hottest days ( and nights. ). I hope you don't get another cold snap to freeze all your buds and blossoms. You seemed to change from snow to Spring very rapidly.
ReplyDeleteThose first pick-able daffodils are hard to beat for bright happy flowers.
My all time favorite flower - we still have to get them from the florist - we are under 7 inches of snow right now - it will be gone by tomorrow - and is very pretty.

ReplyDeleteSpring is breaking out here too in that it is unseasonably warm!! Where, we ask, is the snow? Yesterday afternoon we walked up to Heroes' Square and into the City Park. With everyone there appeared to be a mood of jollity very suggestive of a turn in the year.
Your daffodils look lovely - such cheerful flowers.

for sunshine so they will open their lovely faces.
I must also share this morning I looked in the garden and my aunts delphiniums
have pushed through the ground. I just had to smile at that. Oh how I love Spring
signs and could it have been a sign from my aunt?

No blooms here yet, but our daffodils have sprouted. We just had a "gazillion" blackbirds in our back yard. I tried to get a picture, but they weren't ready to pose. Brr! It is cold out today.
