It's always such a pleasure to head to western North Carolina
and spend time surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
We live about 250 miles east of Asheville. Today, the four hour drive
across the state was close to perfect. Traffic was light, the day was cool and
blustery with nonstop bright sunshine and, fortunately, there were still plenty of
colorful leaves clinging to the trees despite an unusual early snowfall just a day ago.
Patches of snow still awaiting the warming rays of the sun could be seen along the
road and on the mountain tops in the distance.
All these pics were taken through the window as we drove west.
I think you can understand the naming of this mountain range - it's truly
a 'blue ridge' across the sky.
Are you a mountain person? Do you feel different when you are surrounded by hills,
peaks and valleys? Do you, like me, think them majestic and magical?
I LOVE North Carolina and would move there if I could. It is one of the most beautiful states in our country. There is just so much to see and do. I spent 2 weeks in Winston-Salem a couple of years ago and drove all around the countryside. Biltmore just about blew me away!!! Happy November.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos through the windshield, Mary. We visited the Blue Ridge mountains once, many years ago, and I thought them very aptly named.
ReplyDeleteI do love mountains - they are awe-inspiring in their formations and bulk. When we drive through the Rockies every summer to visit Tim's mother, I'm always struck by their beauty and grandeur. Makes one realize how small we humans are in the grand scheme of things.
I always assumed that the Blue Ridge Mountains were somewhere near the lonesome pine..? Stan Laurel was born not that far from us. Wonderful pictures and colours. Yes - love mountains; ours are a little smaller than yours, but still impressive on a good day. And I have happy memories of a couple of holidays in Austria.
ReplyDeleteThese are really beautiful photos of these mountains. I love mountains as along the highway with the twists, turns and dips and climbs one always wonder's what the view is ahead. It's ever changing. Hugs. Pam
ReplyDeleteYou know I love my Blue Ridge mountains. They are beautiful anytime of the year (well winter is not my favorite lol). You got some wonderful pictures.
