You may recall that I've loved taking candid photos of women when traveling. I feel strongly about women and their place in this world of ours, a world getting harder for so many, when it should be better, easier, safer.
I have gathered together many photos of women whose lives are much different than my own and, recently, realized that I often go back into my photo archive, or revisit blog posts where they were featured, looking at these photos wondering if things have changed for them. Most seemed happy as they went about their daily lives, but some asked questions which made me feel they would like changes so their children could have a better life.

Hoi An, Vietnam
Saigon, Vietnam

Looking at my photos of all these gorgeous women also brings back memories of the fabulous places where I met them and sometimes their children. I talked with many of them, and moved close to watch them working diligently to provide what we would consider the basics for their families, all while creating beautiful things which brought only a small income for such hard work.
I wanted to have an easier way to view them without having to get on the computer or make another photo book.
In my next post I will share with you a great alternative for viewing your own photos, or making a fabulous gift for
someone special.
You took some fabulous photos!
ReplyDelete. . . . . and I've been so fortunate to get to such beautiful places Penny.
DeleteThanks dear.
Your photos of women around the world are beautiful, Mary. It's so true that we all want something better for our children and grandchildren. So many women struggle just to put food on the table for their loved little ones - it can break one's heart. I love the smiles and open faces in these photos. My favorite photo, composition and colorwise would be the one from Vietnam with the woman in the hat crouched in the boat. Although her face isn't visible, her posture conveys confidence in what she's doing with the boat. And I love that she's wearing a simple, pretty wrist watch.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your next post on displaying photos. I have so many and mostly they just stay on the computer. I'd love to display some of the best. Have a great weekend, Mary.

I love that particular one too Lorrie - but have to admit I never even noticed the watch before! You are so good about picking up on the details always - another post coming soon on what to do with all those photos!

I didn't know you were a professional photographer. Your gorgeous photos should be in National Geographic and the travels. What wondrous places you've been and seen.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh dear Donna - if when I was young and had known what I know now I might have considered a more creative career. I did work in commercial art and advertising several years, and loved it, but I can honestly say the photo bug didn't grab me until I become a blogger!
DeleteMany thanks for your very sweet comment.

Mary, Each and every one of these photo is just stunning. I agree they look like a professional photographers work. You could definitely have a show in an art studio with these shots.
ReplyDeleteYou are always such a kind friend and so generous with your comments Marilyn - thank you so much.

Mary, I think that photographing people successfully is one of the hardest things to do. And you have done it so well! Each one so natural, and their stories we can but imagine. I look forward to seeing how you plan to display them.
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE these pictures of these lovely women, everyone of them are so gorgeous and you really have been so many different cultures!!!! You should do a photo book just about women you have met, it would wonderful.

Your candid photos are incredible! You should get them published in a book that could be sold on Amazon, a travel book of women photos! I would buy it!
