Late afternoon
Camera in hand
Walk around the cottage
See things you enjoy, collect, love
From around the world
From around the world
Push the shutter button
End up with lots of disjointed images
Collage
Something fulfilling about making a collage
Putting things in their place
Putting things in their place
Some things change
Some things always stay the same
Home
A very hot, humid Saturday here. . . . .but it's still
early so I'm off to do some small garden chores.
Have an enjoyable weekend dear readers.
The Wedgewood pot and the Dalarna horse are my favourites here!
ReplyDeleteMeike, my dark blue Jasperware Wedgwood jardiniere belonged to my dear mother and is quite old, C. 1900, so an authentic antique. It's one of the things I love dearly and will never sell/give away. . . . . . . . a special girl in my family will eventually get it - hope she loves it too!
DeleteI bought the white/gold Dala horse (their home province is Dalarna, Sweden) when in Stockholm a couple of years ago. My neighbor is of Swedish descent and wanted one in the traditional colors which I bought back for her. Of course when I saw they even had white ones I knew one had to come home to my house too!

Mary, this is such a terrific idea. You have given me inspiration for a post of my own. Thank you! I seem to be in a creative slump these days. I look back on previous posts, think about the time and energy they took, and just don't muster up the enthusiasm to do much. I love seeing bits and bobs of your collections and a peek into the things you love and live with. No words needed here, just sheer joy at studying each of the photos. Thanks for doing this!
DeleteWe are fortunately enjoying some really cools temps today. High was in the 80s. That after a seriously hot day Friday. Enjoy the weekend.
Just love the collage. Even the little things between pages. You are so clever and such wonderful style.
ReplyDeleteThank you Donna, you are always very kind - I love how you notice the small things!
DeleteMary -
Dear Mary, my kind of post. Lots of pretty images, expertly photographed.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful snippets! I want your zinc mirror!! Have a wonderful weekend Mary.
ReplyDeletePenny, it's actually not zinc - a reproduction made of wood! I do love it though as it looks somewhat authentic as the color is really good. Found it in a Raleigh thrift/consignment shop about 5 years ago, same booth as the French bistro sign - that dealer knew just what I like!

It's all so pretty. And I love the new header. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb, I'm thinking I should leave my step-back to you - know you would always love it and care for it, haha!!!!!
DeleteAnd when you are done, you see that it all looks like home sweet home. You have an elegant sense of style...
ReplyDeleteDear Mary - what a great eye you have both with your camera and the objects you surround yourself with in your lovely home.
ReplyDeleteIt's really a small home Rosemary, by American standards, but I do love it and it suits us just fine. We have huge houses being built around us in our neighborhood now - with huge mortgages too no doubt!
DeleteThank you for your very sweet comment.
Hugs - Mary
Vee, as we both wrote about our dining room tables recently, I have a feeling we really love this part of our homes. Gathering at the table, when all the daily detritus is hidden away elsewhere, makes picking up so worthwhile!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comment dear friend.-
Mary
Love seeing the snaps of your camera around your cottage. Each shows a snippet of you. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love your collages - you have such elegant taste in furnishings and decorations - simply delightful.
ReplyDeleteYou really have your own unique way of decorating and displaying your treasures, Mary. Moving pieces around takes a fresh eye and I'm sorry that I'm not so great at that. I love the sense of history (and your history) in your collages, and what you have picked up in your travels.
ReplyDeleteHope your weather there in Raleigh becomes more tolerable. We are cool here so I'll look forward to some weeding tomorrow.
Sending hugs across the miles!

ReplyDeleteAdmiring the dedication you put into your website
ReplyDeleteand in depth information you provide. It's nice to come across a
blog every once in a while that isn't the same outdated rehashed information. Wonderful
