. . . . . . . it was a fun time and a great place
to visit!!!
The 'Big Easy' - round-the-clock nightlife, street musicians, cajun food,
'Hurricane' drinks, color, hot, humid, noisy, busy, dirty, sparkly, live music,
French, jazz, jazz, and more jazz. . . . . . . a city of contrasts, live oaks,
beads, trolley cars, wrought iron balconies and flowers.

~ Preservation Hall ~
The hour of traditional jazz here in the tiny, historic space (thankful I'd made
reservations for seats) was the hilight of my visit.
~ St. Louis Cathedral, Jackson Square ~
Beautiful images of a city I'd like to visit someday. It's culture is blended from so many traditions. Glad you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun Lorrie - very noisy and colorful - and full of characters such as we never see here in somewhat staid Raleigh!
DeleteNice place to visit but couldn't live there!

Hello Mary! This is my test comment, since you said you were experiencing trouble with that feature of Blogger.
ReplyDeleteLike I said in my reply to your comment, New Orleans sounds and looks like a great place, but one I would be able to enjoy only for a very short time. Also, I must admit I find the whole voodoo stuff rather scary... it makes me feel ill at ease. The food and music, though, and the buildings - give me those any time! :-)
It looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! How wonderful that you had a chance to go to NOLA.
ReplyDeleteWow - what a place to visit - not for the faint hearted. Lovely photos. Looks like you made some great memories.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely place! Colourful :)
ReplyDeleteAlways so nice visiting your blog...
Love from Titti
Ahhh, Mary, I do love New Orleans. It has changed a lot since we first started visiting oh so many years ago. We would drive over from Houston and take the Old River Road so we could view some of the beautiful old plantations which have been carefully preserved. The shopping for antiques is really unequaled. And, the whimsical shops with a little bit of everything are impossible to leave. And, the restaurants !!!! I don't like loud, crowded, wild anymore at all, but it's part of N.O. so I deal with it. Wonderful reminder! And, please tell me who did your header, I love it !!!
ReplyDeleteYes, many changes since I was last there - such as "are we the only ones without tattoos?". The jazz was great, the food for me being a non-meat eater was difficult, the heat was a bit much. I've actually never visited there when it has been cool and not humid - impossible to have good hair days! Perhaps it never is cool/cold there!
DeleteI design all my own headers Marsha - use PicMonkey which is easy and user friendly. These are just photos of things around my cozy cottage home.

I love how you edited your pictured, Mary, you really caught that New Orleans vibe. It looks like jasmine is enjoying herself! We enjoyed the jazz and wonderful food when we were there. So it's hot and humid even in November? Well--better than 30 degrees as it is here in Chicago!
ReplyDeleteWith love,
Jane
Jane, it was still so hot and humid - definitely a bad-hair city!!!! Glad you enjoyed the pix - it was a fun visit!
DeleteThe choice of photos you posted were PERFECT. This is so nice...most people will just take random photos of a city, but you make it an art!!! :))) Oh gosh, I would have TOTALLY gotten a reading from the Voodoo Rune Lady!! I have a set of Runes that I just love, but having a bit of a Voodoo twist would have very much intrigued me :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a lovely comment Rain. We were amazed at how many psychics, readers, tarot cards etc. we saw - Jasmin was going to get a reading but at $100 decided to save her hard-earned money for other things!
DeleteThe mask is just the right one for Jasmin. She is beautiful! Oh I would have loved visiting Preservation Hall with you. Thanks for the pictures, they are wonderful. It has been way to long since I have been there.
ReplyDeleteJasmin loves cats but is allergic to them - this mask was her first and only choice, and luckily didn't make her sneeze, haha!
DeleteColorful post, Mary! You captured the spirit of NOLA. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to visit this city one day. It seems to be so different from anything I have seen of America.
ReplyDeletePreservation hall would have definitely been my highlight of such a trip too. Jasmine is so super lucky to have such a grandma as you and I'm sure she knows that too.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are wonderful, Mary, really showing the diversity and colour of the place. My mother always wanted to go to the French quarters of NO but never made it.
