The Queen of Hearts has been busy baking today.
I've decided to bring a mouthwatering selection of
her delicious raspberry and lemon curd tarts to the
picnic. . . . . . after all what's a picnic without jam tarts.
We all need a little sugar for the energy required to
follow Alice down the rabbit hole and off on the
ultimate magical adventure.
Alice's 'Wonderland' has to be the most amazing
expedition to unknown places - goodness I have
'wanderlust' just thinking about it all. . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . .and as Cheshire Cat says:
"If you don't know where you're going, any road will get you there."
Hope you all stop by Michael's SCRIBBLE PICNIC today - it's
going to be interesting to find out whom each member of the group
has chosen as a favorite fictional character. . . . . . and of course
how they have illustrated this week's challenge. I'm sure it will be one
of the most fun picnics ever!
As for magical adventures and expeditions, I'll be off on another one
soon. It won't be down a rabbit hole with Alice, but it will be to what is
reputed to be a magical place - more on that later!

Alice called across the Mad Hatter's table. . . . .
"Dorothy dear I'm noticing your sparkly red shoes,
they're beautiful, however you are rather overdressed
for a picnic aren't you?"
Dorothy in her mid-western drawl replied. . . . . . "come
on now Alice, this is wonderland isn't it?"

Oh I could stay all day at your picnic.....Alice in Wonderland. Your drawing shows such suspense....Love the dark colors which adds to the feeling of finding something behind the curtain.

btw Last year when I celebrated my 75th Birthday...my family gave me a huge "Mad Hatter" party..it reminds me of your post today. Thanks for the fun and picnic.
I loved your post about that one, Wanda, back then. That one fellow with his hat was such a hoot! have I ever shown you a pic of myself as the Mad Hatter? :)
DeleteI've never read the book but I saw a few Alice in wonderland movies. so is Alice your favorite character or the queen of hearts? I guess you can like them both.

Definitely Alice - she was adventuresome and curious, I like that, especially in youngsters as it makes for interesting grown ups!!!!

I like your art work of Alice, she is a great choice for favorite fiction character. The Queen of Hearts drawing is also pretty.

I don't know that I'll taste her tarts though, they could be poisoned...I'll pass for today! ;)

ReplyDeleteAhhh ... Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz ... fantastical fantacies and I, of course, love the Cheshire Cat. He is such a character and has the ability to disappear when he wants to ... often though I would like to do be able to do that. Your drawings are marvelous and I will have a lemon curd tart, thank you ... another of my favorite things. You are such a delight, Mary and I can't wait to hear about your upcoming adventure :)

delicious raspberry and lemon curd tarts -- I am sure to scarf a few down and tuck some away for later too. Quite agree--what's anything, actually, without a yummy tart?! I mean, they should be at weddings too. :)
My older sister's favourite book is Alice in Wonderland so when she had a daughter, she called her Alice for that very reason. And while she's half American, she couldn't be any more English really. A but heavier than the classic heroine however. ha.
I wonder where you are going! I can think of many places that fit the bill! :) You, question: do you ever NOT have wanderlust, come to think of it? How does Bob keep up with you. He strikes me as the most amiable husband. Looking forward to meeting one day too.
