Brrrr, it has been cold!
A few extremely chilly nights have passed, now we should return to
warmer days. I see no more sub-freezing night temps heading this way.
Floating bed sheets and tablecloths over the hydrangea bushes is over.

Perhaps spring is truly on the way here in the southeast.
These mama squirrels will be happy up their trees. Busy for sure raising
the babies we know are now tucked in those nests in the tops of the oaks.

Tails certainly come in handy for balancing acts - and always
seem at their bushiness at this time of year.
Perhaps they became snug blankets for the naked babies on
those recent cold nights - just a thought!
Now if we could just get rid of these gray skies and rain :).
ReplyDeleteLove that last photo. She looks all ready to dive into that suet cake and how nice of you to provide it as I'm sure a lot of energy is required for raising those babies.
Have a wonderful weekend, Mary.
Kim, hope your weekend is fun. Staying close to home here, more rain coming, bird watching is the only excitement, plus those rascally squirrels!
DeleteThough it is raining today and will through Sunday here, our temperatures are getting a little warmer.
ReplyDeleteMore rain coming here later and high only 50F today - then Sunday 73F. Continued craziness in regard to NC weather patterns.
DeleteKnow you are anxious to get into gardening mode dear Penny!
Enjoyed your squirrely post. Bushy tails must make for warm cozy tuck-ins. Snowing here, but that's okay, Spring is coming... sometime.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a beautiful weekend.
That busy tail surely would make a great blanket!
ReplyDeleteSweet little squirrels - I look forward to seeing them and their antics later in the year. Crazy weather patterns here too!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very bushy tail on that squirrel! Sunshine here, but cooler than normal temperatures. Still, the brightness helps banish wintry thoughts.
ReplyDeleteOh those silly squirrels. I am imagining baby squirrels in our tree too. Soon it will warm and we will see new one chasing around the yard. Enjoy the antics!
ReplyDeleteThey look so cheeky but I think they're cute. We have no squirrels here but I wish we did.
ReplyDeleteAwe...I wish we had squirrels here, they are Oh so charming!
ReplyDeleteI saw my first one on a trip to the UK many years ago, it scampered up the tree so quickly!
We're currently watching UK "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" chaired by Jeremy Clarkson. A few nights ago a question was 'What animal makes a Drey'? You will know of course the answer is the squirrel! It is the nest built in the crook of branches of the tree! I found that fascinating!
They are such appealing little animals.
LOVE your great photography dear Mary - I think in some ways you may have missed your calling - you would have made a great Naturalist!
Don't forget to show us the babies when they appear!
Much love
