If you ever go across the sea to Ireland. . . . .
. . . . .then maybe at the the closin' of your day
You will sit and watch the moon rise over Claddagh
And see the sun go down on Galway Bay
Three days in Galway. . . . . . . showers continue, yesterday more like non-stop
downpours, however today was much better with sunshine and a cool wind.
It doesn't feel like June but actually is quite nice for walking and sightseeing.
So you grab your rain jacket, tuck an umbrella in your bag, and off you go!
There's plenty of traditional Irish music on the streets and in the pubs.
A warming bowl of seafood chowder with Irish brown bread and butter,
a couple of glasses of a favorite beverage to quench the thirst after lots of
chatting with the very friendly locals, and other tourists from around the world,
and the day flies by.
Follow with a great night's sleep in a comfy bed in one of the best run,
cleanest hotels we've ever stayed in. If you plan a visit here you can't go
wrong with the Park House Hotel, just about perfect in every way.

We spent 24hours in Galway back in 2008 - I too sat for a photo with Oscar. What a lovely, friendly place. So glad you enjoyed it too
ReplyDeleteOh, those words take me back Mary, to my childhood, when we sang in St Patrick's concert every year with the school choir. As children do, I memorised Galway Bay and to this day could sing it right back to you :) Enjoy your wonderful Irish trip. x

ReplyDeleteDespite the weather, it's all so lovely, Mary! My Dad was born and raised in County Cavan which is probably some distance from Galway. We came to Australia when I was 4 so Australia has been my home but I still feel drawn to Ireland, Scotland, and England — especially in my later years.
