This is the Lilac-breasted Roller (Coracias caudata), one of the beautiful birds I enjoyed photographing in southern Africa. It may not be a perfect pink but it certainly can qualify for being close........after all, how many true pink birds can there be? Even pink flamingos are somewhat orange!
These photos also show the brilliant blue skies enjoyed every one of the eighteen days of my safari. I have not changed or enhanced any colors in these photos.
This particular Roller inhabits acacia country with well spaced trees, rolling bushy game lands, riverside areas and cultivated land, but they do not associate with human habitation..........so won't be found at bird feeders!

I wasn't sure I'd be ready for Pink Saturday this week as getting organized is definitely a slow process after such an intense trip. However I've made it and as always, wish each of you a great day. Stop by Beverly's blog How Sweet the Sound for the list of today's participants sharing all shades of pink.
Breathtaking, absolutely!!!! I'm going to share your Africa posts with Larry...maybe, just maybe, he'll want to go. I already want to go!
