Sunset on Mala Mala ~ the Drakensberg Mountains, rising to
11,424 feet in the distance.
Evening game drives on Mala Mala Game Reserve brought spectacular sightings with many animals on the hunt ~ lion, leopard, wild dogs, white rhinos etc. We were never disappointed. The remaining days were beautiful under the clear blue skies, warming up to comfortable temperatures for animal and bird sightings....and of course elevenses and sundowners in the bush!
Crested Barbet
Magpie Shrike
Marabou Stork
Brown-hooded Kingfisher
Lilac-breasted Roller
Cape Glossy Starling
The elephant herds were huge this visit, and
each day we enjoyed time spent watching these amazing
families go about their daily routine.
Rattray's Camp on Mala Mala is a stunning place to stay.
I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to visit here
twice enabling me to enjoy the best wildlife viewing,
the excellent accommodations, and the great people
who work here.
This is the final post on my recent safari. It was amazing.
I'm so happy my husband was able to come along this time.
I thank my best friend Paula for making it all possible............and
I'd love to do it all over again some day!
I really hope you enjoyed this journey and viewing the
incredible wildlife. This IS Africa and I've tried my best
to share its amazing beauty with you.
Hello Mary:
ReplyDeleteSuch an amazing country with such incredible wildlife as your wonderful images all too clearly show. You are indeed fortunate to have been able to experience this at first hand and we are certain that we are not alone among your readers in appreciating your taking the time and trouble to share so much of it with us.
What wonderfully varied wildlife, it must have been such a pleasure to capture them all with your camera. You have me considering visiting Africa someday, it looks like an incredible landscape with great experiences waiting there. The camp looks beautiful, I'll have to look it up if I'm ever brave enough to go! :)
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed you posts on your most recent safari Mary. Your pictures are so stunning. I felt like I was right there with you and Bob.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
p.s. thanks for the kind words about my new From Harvest To Table Blog. Oh and you asked about bear sightings. I just posted about that today on my Comforts of Home blog.
Loved every moment and every photo shared. What a trip of a lifetime. That last one did make me smile with "The End". What memories you, Bob, and Paula have of a very time shared together.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoy seeing your pictures and reading your words of your trip. It is amazing. Thank you for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteIncredibly amazing in pictures. I can only imagine what it is like in real life. You captured it beautifully and I thank you for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous photos of your safari. My husband has been to Namibia (then South West Africa) but I have not. These shots of wildlife make me want to go.
ReplyDeleteHow fortunate I have been to find your blog and to go along with you on this safari. Thank you for your incredible photos and description of your journey. I appreciate your sharing this trip with us, and I plan to check out some of your other trips as time permits....thanks. Farm Gal in VA
ReplyDeleteLovely to read your comment - I really do enjoy sharing my trips as often they are to places people do not have the chance to visit!
DeleteOf course, living in Virginia - and on a farm perhaps - is definitely a very lovely place to be!
Thanks for stopping by.
Hugs, Mary
I loved seeing your photos of Africa. An amazing place. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your wonderful trip. I look forward to reading your blog daily with all your adventures and wonderful photos. Africa is just gorgeous and you are so lucky to be able to take this journey and make us feel as if we were there also. Thanks for all your wonderful blogs.
ReplyDeleteMary, I have so enjoyed being whisked along on African safari through your photos and descriptions - thank you so much for sharing! You have brought to life so many places that I shall likely never visit. I appreciate your time and effort involved in sharing these places with us. It was your intro to Suzanna's Antiques and photos of your garden, along with descriptions here and there that spurred me to add NC to the list of states that Hubby and I are going to explore with an eye toward figuring out where we want to land next. How about that?! I would devour any tours of your home-base, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa - really appreciate your kind comment. North Carolina is a great place to live and I'll try to show more of the natural beauty here when I have time at home. I would suggest you check out the western part of the state around Asheville which is beautiful if you prefer mountains, and then of course the coast which is awesome if you're beach people!
DeleteI'll be off again soon, another new adventure awaits!
Hugs - Mary
Wow! You've captured Africa perfectly with your photos. They show such understanding.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you've inspired lots of people to visit Mary!
