You may recall I organized a little freshening up in the
small upstairs bathroom recently?
Smoothed the popcorn ceiling, painted walls and woodwork,
new quartz vanity top and basin, brushed nickel faucets
and accessories etc. What I didn't share then was the
ugly cabinet in monster brown stained wood -
the 'manwood' from the '80's that we decorating gals
detest, definitely not a favorite thing!
I purposely didn't have the painter do this cabinet
because I wanted a pull-out shelf built in first.
The husband of a dear friend had installed some lovely
pull-outs in my old kitchen cabinets, he returned to make
one for this bathroom which I use much of the time.
With the fabulous pull-out shelf completed, it was drag
out the blue tape, primer and paint, and spend several
hours confined to the small space on my knobbly old knees!
The result is great, I love it, the master of the house says
I've destroyed 'his wood', but the clean fresh look is so
much better than before.
I do know one thing...........and this brings a smile
to his face, I will NOT be attempting to paint the
kitchen cabinets, a project I'd had on the back burner
for some years, and there it will stay until my cozy
cottage belongs to someone else........years and years
from now hopefully!
Linking to Claudia's fun weekend party where we share
our favorite things.........
go here to Mockingbird Hill Cottage to join in.
Oh my! Oh la la! It looks fantastic, dear! The whole renovation looks amazing, great job! By the way, the new banner looks adorable too.
ReplyDeleteMiss you! Have a great weekend! Love, Vanessa
What a fresh and pretty new look. I love a bathroom to be white or cream - very nice job on the vanity!
ReplyDeleteI can see why this is one of your favorite things.

A lovely job Mary, a very calming palette, perfect for pampering.
ReplyDeleteYou can pop round anytime you're free, our powder room could do with a lick of paint:)
Have a lovely jubbly weekend.

Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteSo nice to find you on Claudia's today! Your bathroom is certainly bathing in beauty! Although I love colour, I appreciate your serene subtle tones in this most soothing space! Thanks for sharing!
Have a nice weekend,
Poppy
I love the newly painted cabinet Mary. It seems like most men I know don't like wood painted over. Luckily for me, Kent isn't one of them for the most part. Have a wonderful weekend!

looks GREAT!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Mary!
ReplyDeleteWe're in the middle of doing the same thing!! Looks like your faucets and lights are almost the same as mine will be. I wasn't going to post about it until the bathroom was complete, but had to think of a word that started with "R" and I went with remodeling!!
Ahh turned out so pretty...you should be proud:)
ReplyDeleteIt's all so light and fresh, just perfect for a bathroom. We have painted the cabinets in two kitchens - it's a LOT of work, so it's a good choice to let them be.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend, Mary.

It's gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice change, Mary! It looks great and the additional of a pull-out shelf is inspired.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining in this week.

Very nice do over. I love the ingenious drawer.
ReplyDeleteNice indeed! Good job on painting too. I mentioned painting our fireplace white recently and my husband said absolutely no. I will try again later. Too funny how the wood must stay wood for the guys sometimes.
