Such a wonderful surprise when I arrived home last Saturday evening.........
the hydrangeas were in full bloom and unexpectedly abundant.
Due to gallons of rainwater, perfect temperatures, and
earlier efforts with fertilizer........
I was welcomed by my garden favorites. Yesterday I
worked outside for a few hours weeding, pruning and
trimming other shrubs......then cutting a bunch of
these beauties to bring into the house for the weekend.

ReplyDeleteI love, love hydrangeas. Mine are just beginning to bloom. What a welcome home for you! That bush is so lush and beautiful. Do they last all summer long, or peter out in the heat? Our temps are cool enough that we have blooms through September, although the colors deepen and change later on.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Mary! We have hydrangea bushes at our new home! But....they had been neglected for two years. I trimmed them back this spring ( a little late, I think). They are blooming now, but the flowers are small and the leaves are not as green or lush as yours. I guess I need to do a little research on how to take care of them.

How beautiful your hydrangeas are! We have always lived in the desert - too hot for the pretty H. But, now we live in the mountains. I wonder if it is still too hot? Do they like some shade - afternoon shade?
