There's really no rhyme or reason for this post. It just fell into place one cold
afternoon this week when I was doing my physiotherapy exercises in the guest room.
Unable to drive on the ice to a PT appointment was OK because I have my set of
exercises to be done daily at home anyway.
So what did I do after my little work out? Took photos of course!
So there I was, relaxing with the heating pad, looking up at the sparkly
chandelier when I thought why not grab a camera and take photos of the room.
I just moved the camera randomly, snapping when I thought I might have
something in focus - don't forget I was lying supine on the bed the entire time.
I like what my lens captured. Shadows and light. Nothing was staged, not much
editing, this is just how the room looks.

I like the views from your heated bed! Your home is filled with things that reflect your style so well. Love the framed pictures within a larger frame. I have an old window frame (minus the glass) hanging on the wall that I'd like to fill with something.

Oh I miss my chandeliers !! We brought back some of them from Argentina but the ceilings here are too low ! I am hoping in my new little house, there will be a spot for at least one ! There is nothing like the view from a heated bed, is there ? :)
ReplyDeleteMy cottage ceilings are low too Candice but I've still managed three chandeliers - dining room over the table, kitchen above the island, and this bedroom over the bed - all places where nobody needs to duck! I do love them, they're all vintage with real glass crystals, and were rewired to be certain they are safe!

ReplyDeleteGreat idea to snap a few pictures while relaxing with the heating pad. I do hope you are finding some relief from pain. I enjoyed these glimpses of your lovely guest room. I love your sense of style and everything is so tidy. It looks like you have the same headboard as I have in my guest room. Although I'm wondering if yours has been painted as it looks to be a different color.

DeleteYes it's Broyhill from years back - I painted it when I last had the room re-painted and the 80's popcorn taken off the ceilings. The matching armoire - there's glimpse of it in the pic with mirror - is still awaiting a paint job too, just too hard to pull it out from it's recessed nook behind the bedroom door! The chest of drawers went to Jasmin when I bought the antique secretary - small rooms here, hard to get everything in sometimes.

ReplyDeleteMary, may I steal your idea of hanging a larger open frame around smaller framed photos? I love that idea! Also, your chandelier makes it look so worth all the time spent in cleaning those crystals - it has me re-thinking going for it. I am curious whether your current style has been your style through the years. I seem to always be transitioning - while trying to meld my style preferences with those of my husband. (Tiresome.) You and your home are so cohesive - thanks for the inspiration.

DeleteI just use a thick white sock - borrowed from the husband - over my hand, and spray it with Windex then wipe off the crystals on the chandeliers - works well.
As for my style - it's somewhat eclectic now, anything goes as long as it's neutral on the big things, pops of color in accessories, comfortable, has texture, and hopefully a story from the past. But I used to do Mediterranean, then English country house with polished chintz and roses. . . . . . . all of which are grand in the right place and if YOU love those styles. Decorating a home should be a personal reflection of what you love, what you have collected, not fads or fakes, not a replica of a magazine photo.
Enjoy whatever you love, just keep all the beautiful things around you which make you happy. . . . .then your husband will be too!
