It was much more involved than expected!
My surgery lasted 3.5 hours but I was able
to come home at 5 PM yesterday.
My thyroid had fooled us all somewhat.
Am glued back together and being very lazy.
There are lots of things I'm not permitted to
do for a couple of weeks.
A lot of medicines required for a while.
Throat sore and voice raspy, but no intense pain.
My lovely pre-op flowers, freshly cut from my dear friend Mary Ann's
beautiful garden which I visited a couple of days before my surgery.
They're just perfect for me.
Thanks for all your good wishes - they certainly helped me through this.
So happy you are home and recuperating. I hope the pain dissipates quickly and you begin feeling yourself once more.
ReplyDeleteSending hugs and love, M
Thank you dear friend. I feel so thankful that I made it through that longer than expected surgery.
DeleteI'll be reading about your trip soon - I know you enjoyed my lovely country.
Dear Mary - what a long time you were in surgery but thank goodness it is now past history for you - hope all will be plain sailing from now on - relax, let your lovely Bob take care of you, and be feeling back to your normal self soon♡
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosemary, your sweet words from across the pond mean so much to me.
DeleteYour the second blog I read who has had medical problems. Glad to know it all went well and hope you recover quickly. Great flowers to come home to
ReplyDeleteYes Bill, always someone keeping the medical profession busy. A day in a hospital is quite an education. I was thankful for the great care I was given on Wed.
DeleteTake plenty of time to heal, Mary.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, I know you spend much time these days in the medical arena with your lovely hubby. I just pray he gets as good care as I did on Wed. It's good to be home though and all seems to be progressing well. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteMary dear, I'm so pleased to know all went well despite your pesky thyroid making things take longer than expected. The flowers from your friends garden are beautiful they're sure to make your convalescence much more pleasant.
ReplyDeletebon weekend from Normandy.
Thank you Maggie. doing well but would much rather be kicking up my heels en France!!!
DeleteTake it easy. Bob can cook and clean. Be lazy. I know you will want to be busy but your body needs time to recover from the anaesthetic and the operation. In another 20 years you will be glad you stole all the time your doctor is recommending. Remember you are a precious flower just like the ones your friend grew - you just look and sound different. I send you best wishes for a successful recovery.
ReplyDeleteAh sweet Louise, thank you for sending your kind words all the way from beautiful Western Australia. . . . . . I so appreciate them. It's so odd to think I just might make another 20 years (my mum made it to 91!) so I will behave myself now, be lazy, follow orders, and who knows, maybe even come back to Darwin some day!
DeleteGlad hear that all went well and that you are safely back home. Take care.
ReplyDeleteRowan, being able to come home is the best part - these days they don't keep you in hospital long. Had to grin when they brought the full menu when I reached recovery 2 and told me to order whatever I wanted for lunch! I could hardly speak or swallow let alone eat!
DeleteBeautiful photos, Mary. I wish you a quick recovery and hope that the weather is beautiful in your area. Hugs, Deb
ReplyDeleteI've been looking at your lovely post Deb but no time to comment for a while. Will be catching up soon.
DeleteThis morning I'm enjoying the cool gazebo - squirrels active and many birds singing to me, haha! Sunshine is lovely but it will be hot later. Thanks for the good wishes dear friend.
Dear Mary, I'm so glad everything went well! Now pamper yourself and let Bob take over. Much love.
ReplyDeleteBob's doing good. . . . . . . and shouts at me if he sees me bend or go to pick something up (not permitted).
DeleteBeing glued back together is a strange feeling, but I'm promising to behave!
Can't hold Mary down for long. Glad it's over and you're on the mend. Enjoy the days of rest.
ReplyDeleteThat's true Donna - I don't enjoy not being able to get on with things around the house and garden, however if I want to have a nice neck/throat again I must behave myself for a couple of weeks. I'm not even allowed to wear a scarf so am on display to all and sundry!
DeleteHere's hoping you have a very speedy recovery, Mary!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much dear. Have big travel plans ahead so must behave for a while and then I can do normal things again - such as flying
Deleteto special places!
So glad to hear you are home and healing.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Penny
Oh Penny, it was certainly more involved than expected but I feel OK and will heal fast hopefully. I look like the slasher met up with me in a dark alley!!!
DeleteI'm sorry to hear your surgery was more complicated than expected. I hope your recovery goes well and without too much discomfort. Blessings and hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Mel, doing well but wish I could crunch on something tasty!!!
DeleteOh Mary, I'm glad for you that it's over with and now for a good recovery and healing. Take care of yourself and don't overdo it. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. xx Pam
ReplyDeleteDoing better today Pamela - just grateful for the wonderful care I received. Thanks for your kind wishes.
DeleteDear Mary, So relieved that you are home again...the best place to take time out and recover from your surgery. It is so like you to already have big travel plans. Love your beautiful photographs. Please take good care of yourself. ox Gina
ReplyDeleteDear Gina, thank you so much - you know us, always got some place to go, and friend Paula is taking us on a big trip again come September!
DeleteThat's Good Mary. Sending some more get well wishes anyway to help you recuperate. What is the lovely white flower??
ReplyDeleteI feel your good wishes all these thousands of miles away Ali - thank you so much. The flowers are of the campanula - bellflower family I think. These are actually the palest pink imaginable - so delicate and pretty.
DeleteI came by to catch up with you just to find that you have been doing a bit more than recovering from your trip to Ireland. I am sorry to have missed out on wishing you well, before the surgery, but want to send you my very best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.
ReplyDeleteOh dear H, you are always so kind and I thank you for your wishes. I know you are busy with all you have going on so always love hearing from you. Yes, surgeon told me to go to Ireland (how wonderful it was there) and have a fun time before having this surgery.
DeleteI obeyed his orders, haha!!!!!!
Mary x
