I have to say the sweater offerings in the shops this year are
the best ever. I've never seen such attractive knitwear.
From cardigans, casual jackets and wraps, to classic and
contemporary sweaters and tunics. Even knit dresses have
cozy black/grey mélange knit from of all places, H&M. Inexpensive, machine
washable, and very comfortable with the warm funnel neck.
On Saturday for the Christmas parade, I wore it to town with a light black quilted
vest and short grey boots. Later, in the much colder evening, to watch the
tree lighting and mingle with the cheery crowds at the shopping center,
I tossed on my warm black faux sheepskin knee length coat and my tall boots.
I have to say, dressing in a casual dress can be a nice change from all those
tops and bottoms our wardrobes seem to hold these days!

I would buy the H and M dress too! I wear a lot of cowl necked cashmere jumpers, but am still having to put another knitted cardigan over them. Have you discovered a British company called Woolovers? They send all over the world and their quality is amazing. Good styles and not too expensive.
ReplyDeleteI looked and loved their classic merino wool and cashmere styles - see several I might buy later.
DeleteThanks for the heads up B - their prices are definitely good!
Now I've learned how to wash my cashmere sweaters, and I have several, instead of using the dry cleaners, I do not hesitate to buy them. They really are heavenly next to the skin, so light when packing for travel, and make one feel cherished. . . . . . . and we all need a little of that feeling now and then, right?

I love those chunky sweaters! I'm not a dress person at all but like the longer tunic tops with leggings (which I've just started to wear this year!). I like to be warm. We had our first dusting of snow last night!
ReplyDeleteOh I love the knit dresses. We don't have an H & M anywhere.
ReplyDeleteI am a sweater girl. I love a nice soft oversized sweater , one of my favorite shops for gorgeous knit wear is Babette in Portland Or. I am tempted to go there just to shop again ;)
ReplyDeleteI have to see if they are online, oh how great that would be ! even if I am living in Florida now lol
I adore them all but the problem for me is the allergy to most wool .. but I find things here and there that are good .. not itchy :)
ReplyDeleteLove sweater weather, Mary. And there are some beauties here.
ReplyDeleteI too have noticed how stylish the sweaters are this winter - love the way they now have those lovely waterfall drapes but also look so cosy,
ReplyDeleteI do love knit dresses that provide warmth. I'm allergic to wool, though, so unless I can wear something underneath I avoid anything wool.
ReplyDeleteDresses in all shapes and fabrics make up a large part of my wardrobe - I just love them, and hardly can resist a good find in the shops. Yes, knit dresses are great, aren't they! I bought three already this year... one will, I guess, feature on my blog sooner or later. And before I bought the three new ones, I already had three older ones in my wardrobe... I said I can't resist :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't wear dresses or sweaters, but these are beautiful! I can't wear sweaters because I'm simply too hot all the time. Blame it on that nasty menopause! ;-)
ReplyDeleteDear Mary, I love the first two sweaters. Did you tell us where to purchase them. I'm glad that knit dresses are back. I have a beautiful grey cashmere dress that I have saved from years ago.
ReplyDeleteGina, only the last item, the sweater dress, is mine. The other sweaters I found via the Internet and thought them so lovely - just little touches which make them different. Perhaps it's a good thing I don't know where they are available - I'd want them all!

Ever since you wrote on the chunky sweaters I have been thinking I need to go look. I will for sure be looking at H&M and sometimes I have found fun inexpensive things at Old Navy. So I will be shopping soon for sure. I also am loving sort of the long tunics with leggings these days. Such a fun change from tee shirts and jeans. Happy Thanksgiving, dear friend!
ReplyDeleteWell you did tempt me and off to H&M I went. They had a lot of nice sweaters and I was so tempted, but I came home with the same dress only in a lighter grey. I know I am going to love it. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYippee! Marilyn I'm so glad you found a dress - I think you will enjoy it on the cool, damp days of Winter. I love mine and may look for another similar one.

Still thinking of some of their sweaters too. They had some really cute ones.
DeleteSpeaking of sweaters, I think the most bizarre fashion statement we saw in the frigid North of Yorkshire was shoulderless sweaters! Yes! Sometimes called naked shoulder sweaters. Seems silly to me and I chalked in up to hardy Yorkshire women only to come back to CO and see glas wearing them here. Bonkers, I tell ya. :)
