A Walk in the Woods. . . . . . . . .

Brrr. . . . . . it was a little chilly, but so enjoyable.

My solitary January winter woodland walk on a cloudy Sunday afternoon.
The pond was open, not a sign of ice, but we can't forget that Winter has yet to
 run its course.
Interesting how the almost colorless sky above reflects as such a beautiful
blue. . . . . . . apparently all to do with scattering and absorption of wavelengths
if you're thinking as a scientific person.
Let's just say it's Nature's paintbrush at work on a Winter day - much more romantic.

Speaking of romance - such a handsome pair.

Catkins! Tiny dangling touch of early green.
That prickly feeling!

Almost colorless, the muted woodland landscape sleeps.

I anticipate the beauty of Spring green, but find the shades of brown lovely also.

More photos taken with the new Sony camera yesterday.

    1. . . . . and I know you must have beautiful trees in your soon to be new neighborhood Penny. Can't wait for you to share photos of the house and woodland landscape.

  3. Just love your photos. The ducks on the lake out back are chasing each other and carrying on like they know spring is around the corner. They are even climbing the back steps to look inside the windows and clean up any leftover birdseed. It is humorous.

    1. Donna you are always the optimist, haha! "Spring just around the corner" is pushing it a bit - remember how brutal February and even March can be here in the south sometimes! Personally I love Winter if it stays relatively mild as it is right now - coats, sweaters, boots, yes!!!!

    1. Thanks dear Marilyn - I am loving my new camera and was pleased with these shots in what I thought might be a dreary landscape in January.

  5. Beautiful photos from your winter world. It's amazing to see the blue colour in the pond when the sky is so grey! Ducks everywhere seem to be pairing up for springtime! Twitter-pated! Thanks for sharing your beautiful walk with us. Hope you enjoyed a hot cup of tea or coffee when you got home.

    1. . . . . and I see you were taking another wonderful walk at Butchart Gardens - oh how I wish I could have been with you Lorrie.
I did have cup of tea - and dipped a biscotti - as I did 4 laps around the school track after the woodland walk and I was hungry!!!

  6. The opaque pearl-grey sky mirrored blue in the water is fascinating!
Did you play with the camera settings for the last picture? It looks somehow surreal.

  7. Mary dear, I'm loving your new camera!
I've googled the Sony (thank you for the info) and checked it out on Pricespy here!
I had thought my iPhone 7plus would give me better photos - maybe it will once I learn more about it!!
I really enjoyed walking with you on the woodlands walk - wish it could have been in person!
    Such beautiful images.

  8. Wonderful winter photographs Mary .... looks very much like the countryside here at the moment .... bleak and cold but beautiful on a crisp, blue sky day. I love days like that. We have had similar but, over the last few days it has been typically British here ... grey skies and rain !!!! XXXX
