After spending much of Wednesday night in the hospital ER,
I needed the calm of the upstairs bedroom for sleeping most of yesterday.
This was a my second kidney stone experience, the former being many years ago.
If you've ever had one you'll know exactly what I mean when I say "the most
excruciating pain ever" and something I'd never wish on anyone.

Oh Mary, I'm sorry you had to go through that! Rest up and be well my friend! xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Rain, just hope I pass the darned thing - which is small according to the CT scan - soon. The pain was so severe I acted like a crazy woman in the ER - and had to wait 3 hrs.before getting any pain meds as the lab results and scan were scheduled first. I do hate taking those dangerous painkillers but took one yesterday as the pain returned, however today I'm doing much better.
DeleteYou poor gal...I would hate taking pain killers, but honestly when it's too much, I give in. Hope you pass it soon. I can't imagine the pain of it all.
DeleteOh, I hope it's better Mary. Rest in your bedroom is the perfect medicine. I do detest hospitals and finished up my surgery and did well except for falling splat on the floor in front of everyone. I recently found out I have a kidney stone after some scans, but they tell me it's not problematic. I hope they are right as I have heard about that pain. Glad you were home and not on you next adventure.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your surgery went well Donna - but sorry you fell. Hate to tell you but be prepared for that stone to decide to move some day - you will definitely know!!!
DeleteYes, thankfully this has happened now and not 3 weeks from now!!!
Poor you! I've only ever had an inflammation in the area around my kidneys, which was painful enough without there being any stones involved. I hope you can sleep well and long, and get all the rest you need.
ReplyDeleteThanks Meike - doing much better today, although I don't think the stone has passed yet! After 4 hours in the ER one seems to want to sleep for such a long time - so draining - and then the fear of catching the 'flu with all those really 'sick people' around!
DeleteOh, so sorry to hear that, I know it is agonising. Take care, lots of rest and keep drinking water.
ReplyDeleteAm doing just that - plus adding lemon juice to the water as it's supposed to assist in blasting that little devilish stone to tiny bits!!!!! We'll see.
DeleteMary, I'm so sorry you had this trouble, and hope the stone passes without further difficulty. Rest well. I love the quote above the closet door frame. What is the complete quote? Aimez, riez, revez, et allez dormir ...?
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about fear of catching something at the hospital. I think schools are germ factories, too, with so many sick students there. I wash diligently and refuse to eat anything that isn't separated into individual portions (no popcorn bowls, or snack mixes!). I use sanitizer on the computers before sitting down to work on them. One needs to take care.
That's the entire quote Lorrie - loosely translated - like, laugh, dream, and then sleep. . . . . .
DeleteYes, you need to take extra care in your school. Sadly there have been several young 'flu deaths here in NC this past month or so - and now a bad Norovirus is sweeping the schools also.
Stay well dear -
Oh Mary! I am so sorry you had to go through that! It has happened to Kent once, so I know what you went through! Sending Hugs.
ReplyDeleteEven worse for guys!!! Bob had one once so at least he knew what I was going through that night - I acted like a banshee in that ER area, I was hurting so much and was so nauseous, plus my usual low BP went to almost 200 which the doctor said was a sign of intense pain. That scared me too! I was so glad to get home and crawl into bed and sleep for hours.
DeleteGet well very soon sweet lady <3
ReplyDeleteOh no, Mary...I am SO sorry! I've never had one, thank goodness, but I've heard how painful they are. Healing thoughts and prayers your way. xoxo
ReplyDeleteSorry to learn about this Mary - thank goodness it happened whilst you were at home and not travelling - take care.
ReplyDeleteOH no, Mary! I'm so sorry you dealt with so much pain. I've not had them myself but my Mum has had a couple of bouts with kidney stones and she suffered terrible pain. I hope you pass it without too much pain. Rest up and look forward to better days ahead.
ReplyDeleteSending Hugs and get well soon messages, Dear Mary.
ReplyDeleteOh, dear Mary,
ReplyDeleteHow awful. Gene had several kidney stones a few years ago. So I know how absolutely terrible the pain is. Please take care of yourself and get better soon. We are thinking of you.
Love, Gene and Gina
Thanks dear - I'm doing OK now thankfully!
DeleteOh Mary, I am so sorry to read about this. I can 'hear' your relief at being home. Wishing you calm and quiet and quick forgetting of the pain!
ReplyDeleteThanks H - miss you, but glad to know you are out there and hope life is good X
DeleteOh I feel your pain - actually I do. I spent Wednesday night in horrifying pain - not know what was causing it - even though I had two kidney stones previously - you'd think I'd remember. Fortunately I didn't have to spend time in the ER - got a super early appointment at my regular clinic - saw a new-to-me doctor and was on my way in an hour - by Friday midnight things had resolved and I was able to sleep, sleep, sleep. I agree - the pain is monstrous - I declare, it was worse than having all three of my babies - at once - hope I never get another stone. Glad you are doing better.
ReplyDeleteHope you continue to be OK JoAnn - I'm sure you, like me, don't want to be on dangerous narcotic painkillers!
DeleteI don't think the stone has passed yet but my pain has gone thankfully - guess I'll know what it is if I have another bout. I'm drinking glasses of fresh-squeezed lemon juice in water which is supposedly helpful, both with breaking up a stone and then keeping one free of future ones!
Take care -
I am SOOO sorry, Mary! Please get well soon!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry, dear Mary, I can only imagine how excruciating that must be., I cringe just thinking of it. How to avoid for next time? Is there anything one can do to help there? It’s not like you don;t already eat healthy etc.
