Friday afternoon, crossing the Intracoastal Waterway - looking quite calm
despite the heavy gusting winds. I always love crossing the bridge
knowing the island awaits, ever changing from the weather along this coast.
The ocean almost looked like a moving landscape of snow and ice with the
churning waves glittering in the sunlight.
We chose the scenic drive along Bogue Banks Island - part of the
Crystal Coast - through the beach communities of Emerald Isle, Salter Path,
Pine Knoll Shores and Atlantic Beach . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . stopping to take a few photos of the churning Atlantic along the way.
The remains of one of the piers shortened during the most recent damaging
storm along the North Carolina coast - powerful Hurricane Florence in
September 2018.
It was a cold 'hang on to everything - blow away the cobwebs' day with quite
ferocious winds, but sunny and enjoyable to be out in the fresh air.
Hope your weekend is enjoyable.
The water certainly looks choppy there, Mary. We are catching Storm Chiara today and it is a NOT going out day!
ReplyDeleteMary, I am blown away by your pictures. Some of them look like oil paintings... and that one of the ocean that looks like snow..oh my. Great job. Glad you braved the wind so we could enjoy your adventure.
ReplyDeleteLove the beach! Glad you guys were able to spend some time there.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos of the Atlantic! Despite the wind, I hope you had a wonderful getaway!
ReplyDeleteBrrrrrrisk! You’re still smiling, though. Glad that you got out and enjoyed the day.
ReplyDeleteIt looks cold but the churning ocean is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI can almost hear and feel the strong wind myself! Well, maybe it helps that I am listening to the gale force wind blowing outside my house - "Ciara" has reached Germany yesterday.
ReplyDeleteYour post reminds me that I haven't had an adventure to the coast this winter and really must go. The ocean just calls to us and your pictures are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWild and wonderful Mary ..... it’s very wild her as we are just getting over Storm Ciara and are now promised Storm Dennis ...... February is always dramatic ! XXXX
ReplyDeleteNow that looks an awesome place to walk, the sort of weather I would love to walk along the beach in. Does it get as hot it does down in Florida near St George Island. I got burned there in the spring
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! The waves look incredible!
