A beautiful poster in IKEA reminded me of my time in the Baltic states.
Sweden being so beautiful.
Even one night way from home feels like a vacation these days.
A road trip, though mostly highway, brought views of fields, farms,
barns. . . . . .and hay bales already being rolled, a sure sign that
fall is just around the corner.
I know I shouldn't wish a seasonal change so soon, all time is precious,
however this truly disappointing summer weather of 2021 needs to be gone.
Bring on September, October. . . . . .pumpkins, gourds, changing foliage and
cooler nights to put a spring in my step again.
Cashmere sweaters, boots and scarves.
I'm so ready for a nip in the air, aren't you?
A few things from the IKEA visit.
The store was quiet on a Monday, everyone was masked.
There were many empty shelves awaiting stock delivery.

Sunflower gold was prevalent in decor accessories - a lovely shade
which will also work for Autumn. I purchased the pillow covers to
change up my front porch - they will work well with the blue patterned
cushions on the chairs.
Hope your week is bright and cheerful in many ways.
Ikea is always so fun to visit. I am enjoying every day here in Florida. I really don't mind the hot weather. The sun shines in the morning and we usually have an afternoon thunderstorm and then the sun comes out again.
ReplyDelete. . . . similar to Raleigh this summer, only a nearby beach and cool ocean missing here!
DeleteLittle getaways seem to be the thing these days. I'm not really ready for autumn, but the mornings and evenings are MUCH cooler than they were even 10 days ago. I am thinking about my fall clothes already, and seeing a few pieces in the stores that will go with things I have. We're taking a trip to the Rockies in September and I know I'll need warmer clothes for that.
ReplyDeleteThe gold cushion covers will take you all the way to December! Have a great day, Mary.
Oh the Rockies trip will be be fabulous Lorrie - I'm envious!
DeleteI no longer get to the shops but it did strike me the other day that I have a large patch of golden yellow Achillea out in my garden and it is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove achillea but it doesn't do well in our hot/humid weather.
DeleteYes, I am also yearning for autumn. If I never saw the temperature over 75 degrees, I would be grateful. I live in an area that has four distinct seasons, but autumn has always been my favorite. I have been noticing the colors of grey, sienna, gold and beige or greige in decor and I am liking it. I've been looking at new recliners and I may buy a camel or caramel colored leather or even a fabric print that will coordinate with my neutral beige sofa. I'll change out pillow colors, spray my ginger jar lamp a new color and I think that will be the new look for my living room. Bring on autumn!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to spray your ginger jar lamp a new color - what type of paint will you use?
DeleteA new recliner sounds great - these days we require comfy seating, especially come winter with even more time spent at home!
I used regular spray paint in a satin finish. It did say it could be used on ceramic. I taped what was not to be painted and made sure I sprayed lightly so there would be no drips. The original color was a deep red and I wanted a sage green lamp. It was a thrift store purchase. I liked the brass oriental influence of the base, and that remained unpainted. Chalk paint would work also, but just apply thin coats with a good brush, a poly-acrylic top coat helps protect from chips. It's very easy to change the look especially if a new shape of a shade is added too.
DeleteSorry to burst your autumn bubble, but I'm not at all ready for a nip in the air! It is quite hot here - over 100 with the heat index - but I'll take this weather any day over the cold weather. Once it's fall here, we know what's right around the corner. Our winters here are brutal. Brian was mowing yesterday morning (we had a heat index of 106!) and he was dripping with sweat. He said, "You don't have to shovel sunshine!" We're both summer lovers and could live in shorts and tshirts every day. I think we live in the wrong area. ;-)
ReplyDeleteMelanie want to swap houses, lol?
DeleteWe sometimes consider moving back north - New Hampshire or Maine - but in all honesty we are far too old now to handle snow blowers and shovels!
I am certainly ready for the nip in the air.
ReplyDeleteLoving the sunflower gold color this year. I recently bought a pair of linen pants and a lacy sweater in the color. Haven't been to IKEA in a long time. What a fun outing.
"Linen pants and lacy sweater" sound awesome Marilyn, I think you will look lovely in that color. I have a few new things ready for Autumn and I'm hoping for a cold winter - not oodles of snow and ice, just nice lower temperature requiring coats, sweaters and boots.
DeleteA trip to IKEA is as good as a trip to Sweden these days! Many Swedes in our city trundle off to the cafe there for a lunch of meatballs when the urge takes them.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't eat there on Monday - even though it was 'meatball special' day - I've been a non-meat eater for over 40 years!!!! But we did bring home some chocolate bars, cookies, and crackers!
ReplyDeleteA few warmer and sunny days would be very welcome here, we need them for the grapes and everything on the fields to ripen properly. September will be here soon enough, and autumn is definitely arriving early this year.
ReplyDeleteAs for being away from home, I guess that is one advantage of being in a long-distance relationship: I get to spend many weekends at O.K.'s, which almost always feels like a mini break in that beautiful area between the Rhine Valley and the Black Forest. Hence no sign of cabin fever for me through the past 1 1/2 years.
Love that golden shade of the cushions you have bought, and I can very well imagine how it looks with blue!
Ikea...I always enjoy reading about trips to that wonderland. (At least that is how I perceive it.) I actually watch a vlog where Ikea shopping is prominently featured. That's a wonderful collage.
