We're having a heatwave!

Cut the first little bunch of flowers from my garden yesterday - it really is looking
and feeling rather like Spring around here.

Living in North Carolina we are not having the winter weather conditions currently keeping much of the USA under wraps right now!  We are at the opposite end of the spectrum, no chill, no snow or ice, no way below freezing temperatures. . . . . . . and are experiencing a most likely record breaking spell of hot weather. February rarely hits 80F and higher days as it has done this week. Nights staying so warm that leaving the windows open, or even turning on the air conditioning as we did last night, was the only way to cool off and get some comfortable sleep . . . . . . . . plus hunting for a pair of summer-weight PJ's and kicking off the duvet!!!

Stay warm and safe if you are dealing with severe weather conditions now and through the weekend . . . . . . and of course we have cooler weather returning soon!

  1. Smiling at your title today. Yes, we sure are. I've been baking with the windows open and have about decided that it might be cooler with them closed. Never thought I would be saying that in February. Your bouquet is so cheerful. Here I am still waiting for the first daffodil to open.

  3. Oh that's lovely. Too bad that it will go away. Still, it can't be long before it returns for good.
That's a beautiful bouquet of flowers from your own garden.

  4. Dearest Mary,
Yes, it definitely is spring in the South East!
This morning on the way to my orthopedic surgeon in Macon = one hour driving from us, we saw the prettiest Japanese magnolias and lots of daffodils.

  5. Enjoy it as long as it lasts, with as much outdoor activity as you can manage. Alas weather seems unreliable everywhere.

  6. That is crazy! And here I am in brrr cold Illinois where the wind chill is 15 degrees and we had an ice storm yesterday. I'm wearing two layers of clothing and was reading under a heavy blanket this afternoon. From one extreme to another!

  7. AC on in February? That does indeed sound record-breaking! We've had a mild, mostly sunny week with temps up to 14C; not completely unusual for February, but certainly not our typical late-winter weather. Last night it began to rain (welcome and necessary), along with a drop in temperature. For Sunday, the possibility of some snow is forecast, with temperatures reaching below freezing during the night. No summer-weight PJs for us just yet!

  8. There are plenty of spring flowers out in my garden and it is March on Wednesday - so I try not to think ''cold'

  9. We have rain, rain and another rain...day after day. Dull and grey. It´s more like in November. But this week I saw some spring signs :)

  12. February is so changeable here - we seem to have every season in a day; rainbows almost as common as clouds. And daffodils of course.. in every hedgerow and park, for soon it will be St David's day.

  13. Much of our snow is now melted and the snow we had today didn't stick to the ground. There are flowers in my garden just waiting for that sunny day to burst forth. I love seeing your flowers of springtime and getting quite impatient to see some in my garden. I did pick a few daffodil buds a week ago and they opened indoors, but the ones that remain outdoors are waiting for the sun.
