If I could save time in a bottle……

Yesterday flew by in a fog, as are all the days lately.
I have a lot on my plate at present as we are preparing for a big trip.
The weather has turned hot again, temperatures in the 90's requiring
dragging the hoses through the garden as the nights are staying very warm also.
Leaving home always requires attention to so many things, indoors and out.

I'll be taking a break from here for a couple of days. Tomorrow a very special blog
friend will be visiting and then Memorial Day will probably be one of those bustling
holidays where anything can happen, even when plans haven't been firmed up.

Old bottles - Durack Homestead, Kununurra, Western Australia - September 2012

The beautiful lyrics of the late Jim Croce's song
came to mind this morning.

Time In A Bottle

If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day till eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you

If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then
Again, I would spend them with you

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do, once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go through time with

If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty, except for the memory of how
They were answered by you

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do, once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go through time with

Jim Croce 1943-1973

I'm sure you've already told us but I've forgotten - where are you going this time Mary?

Love the bottles from the Durack homestead.
Have you read Mary Durack's book about her family called "Kings in Grass Castles" I'm sure you would love it. I read it years ago and could read it again.

  9. Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, Mary, and enjoy your time away from the blog. Your bottles are lovely, and a great tie-in with the song - one of my favourites.

  10. There's always a last minute flurry before a trip but seasoned traveller that you are it will all come right in the end. Beautiful images and lyrics. Have a wonderful time with your blogging pal this holiday weekend. Wish your visit to UK had coincided with ours, I know we'll get together one day either on your side of the pond or mine!

  16. Mary--so good to hear from you! How lovely that you have a 50th anniversary coming up! We thoroughly enjoyed our two and a half day getaway, a little early since our actual day is the 29th. We just hadn't celebrated many anniversaries over the years, and I felt 45 was indeed special. We started out very poor too, Russell was in Nam in the Army, and then got out went to college, and returned to service in the AF as an F-111 pilot and later in anti-terrorism. He didn't retire but took an early out. That was also hard. It's been a full and wonderful (if sometimes rocky) 45 years and we still love each other very much! God bless you on your upcoming BIG day too! And have an amazing trip as well.
