Returning from Normandy - which was such a great part of this trip - we had
another full day in Paris. We chose to join the early morning walking tour which
was so enjoyable, and included Notre Dame and many more points of interest.

I never was able to squeeze it in to any of my former Paris visits. More on the
palace and its gardens in another post when I have more time.

Saturday we said goodbye to Avalon Tapestry II on the Seine River - it was a great
cruise and we were sad to leave such a wonderful crew. Views of the Tour Eiffel
accompanied us as we headed to the Gare de Lyon and TGV - the train which
moved us along at 185 mph towards the south of France.

More later from our second riverboat, Avalon Poetry II.
Today we awoke to this sunrise on the River Saone.
Writing this as we approach Lyon. Noontime arrival, lunch, and then a
jaunt around the city this afternoon.
A busy and exciting trip, many beautiful places viewed, one little rain shower
only so far, but perhaps a couple of rainy days ahead.
I hope my friends are safe in the USA, especially those of you in
South and North Carolina where the rains have been so extreme.

So much to see and take in there. Beautiful architecture and all that history is wonderful. The sunset is stunning. Have a wonderful visit in the south of France. I can't imagine going that fast on a train!! Blessings, Pam
ReplyDeleteWe took the same cruises only with Uniworld. I know you are having a wonderful time. I am safe and dry here in SC, not so for many others. I saw in the paper today that the French Riviera has had some flooding problems. I hope you are not headed there.

You are having a great time Mary - love the photo of the Eiffel Tower, it is difficult to get one that looks a little different and you have succeeded brilliantly. We have been having wonderful weather too, but I think that we are about to receive the tail end of the weather coming from the States.
ReplyDeleteOh what a trip. Sounds heavenly. Just love France.
