Recently at the pumpkin farm I also found a small bunch of the last of the
golden sunflowers. This pumpkin above is a roasting pumpkin - to be used
as a vegetable - I need to get chopping soon!
This weekend I'm hoping to start cooking autumn inspired foods in the kitchen.
With the cottage rehab finished, and the weather just starting to cool off,
I'm ready to settle in for autumn. This will include enjoying the falling
leaves - through my now sparkling clean windows - as the fragrance of
comforting foods waft from the kitchen.
Have a great October weekend wherever you are.

Yay for the remodel being finished, and, can you believe October is halfway over already?
ReplyDeleteYes donna - it's flying by! This month is full of birthdays here - friends and family, including moi!!!
DeleteYay for projects done! I envy you the sparkling clean windows. 🙂
ReplyDeleteVee, we completed the insides (and the blinds) yesterday and wow now they really sparkle in the sunshine!
DeleteI try so hard to like October - it is one of Don's favorites, but I yearn for summer to return - or for spring to perk things up. The birds are busy at the feeders - the little juncos have come down from the mountains because there is over a foot of snow there now - so they are our winter tourists. So much fun to watch them hopping about.
ReplyDeleteI do love your header!!! Happy week ahead - I made pumpkin custard last night - the house still smells great.
JoAnn, I know how fall and winter can get a bit soggy your way - but you are still in a beautiful part of this vast land, and your bird life is amazing. Yum, pumpkin custard sounds delish!
DeleteThanks - Mary
Dear Mary, Like you I love Fall. Mostly because of the beautiful jewel-like colors and intense blue skies. My garden is burgeoning with vegetables which need attention so that their wholesomeness can be preserved for our long winters.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you will be enjoying the bounty of your garden dear Gina - a lot of work preserving/canning but so worthwhile.
DeleteHope you're rested up now after your adventure.
Mary -
Hi Mary: I am enjoying the crisp air and gorgeous colours of October, too. Cooking in the fall is the best. I'm looking forward to stews and cakes again. The painting in your first photo is so pretty. I love your blog. :)
ReplyDeleteDeb I'll catch up with you soon - I'm behind with everything but it's beginning to cool a bit so I'm hoping for an energy spurt to hit me soon!
DeleteThanks for stopping by dear friend.
Ohhhhh! Pumpkins, clean windows, and sunflowers, what could be better! We were off to the pumpkin patch on Friday, you inspired me to go. We came home with one sweet pumpkin that will go into a pie or two.
ReplyDeleteI think that the best season for cooking is autumn! Everything is so spicy and inviting! I especially love using my slow cooker in the fall, the amazing aromas that waft through the house are really appetizing!
ReplyDeleteI love Fall and all of the wonderful foods that come from a kitchen in the Fall and winter. The sights, sounds smells of autumn are so very special.
ReplyDeleteYou know, if it wasn't for Christmas, I'd have to say that October is likely my favourite month too!
