It was not a great weekend for us.
Yesterday we were involved in an accident, a hit and run!
My car was not hit but granddaughter Jasmin was behind me in her car.
We were both stopped for a traffic light when a crazy driver came up behind her
at a high rate of speed, weaving, not braking, and crashed into her rear!
Thankfully she is apparently not hurt, and somehow her car missed hitting mine
by about 2 inches, so we are OK too! Her car is another matter and we are
hoping it can be repaired.
BUT. . . . . .here's the amazing part, this insane driver threw his vehicle into reverse
after hitting Jasmin, screeched backward across the road, turned and took off,
leaving part of his front grille, headlights and other debris in the road behind us!
Insurance - doubtful, and probably why he left the scene.
Inebriated or texting, possible.
It all happened in what seemed the blink of an eye.
We three stood for almost an hour in the rain awaiting the Police.
Later Bob and I drove around in hopes we'd find the damaged car parked
somewhere, but didn't.
Just thankful we have no visible injuries, especially Jasmin,
but our stress levels are definitely up.
Thinking how driving is no longer a pleasure within the city.
I'm thinking of staying home today where the most dangerous thing is a kitchen knife!

Dear Mary, How life can change in an instant. I am so relieved to hear that you, Bob and Jasmin appear to be all right. I hope that there are no repercussions. Please, all of you, take it easy for a few days.

That's terrible, Mary; the main thing is that you're all OK - but it makes me cross that there are so many lunatics out there. I was hit from behind on the M6, a couple of years ago, and it was terrifying.
ReplyDeleteMy son, grand daughter and DIL had their car totaled recently by an elderly man that ran a red light. Luckily, after checking out DIL at hospital since her very pregnant tummy hit the steering wheel hard and air bags deployed with too much force, they were all okay, minus the seatbelt rashes and bruises. They were in shock. It is very scary to be in a car crash.

ReplyDeleteSome people are absolutely crazy putting other peoples lives at risk. I do hope that the police discover just who he is and he suffers the consequences of his dangerous actions.
How scary! So happy no one was hurt. Hope Jasmin's car can be rescued and healed. Beautiful picture inside your house with the knife.

Oh so glad you are all ok. A while back I watched as a friend's car was rear-ended right next to me. We were traveling as a group and someone climbed right up the back of her car - and there was nothing we could do to stop it - fortunately only the car was hurt - but still scary. Enjoy your time indoors - we are under a snow warning - how weird is that? Hopefully it will be brief.
ReplyDeleteJasmin is very fortunate not to have been majorly hurt. 3 years later, Alex still deals with pains on a pretty much daily basis from the rear end collision she had whilst waiting for the light. So sorry you had to all go through that but very glad to read you are physically all ok! Thank goodness. Here, dirving can be quite terrifying as we have a lot of college kids and every singel time I;m out, literally, I see someone texting adn driving, plus usually smell pot as someone drives high. Yes, pot is legal but people are only meant to do it in their homes...except now it is as common s cigarettes in public places...that is, too too common!
