Male cardinal in the Magnolia liliiflora tree, already budding.
The weather here is typical for January, rain one day, sunny the next, but always
chilly with murmurings of possible snow which either never shows or surprises
us when we least expect it.
Little happenings in the garden excite me. Last evening, in the quiet of dusk,
I looked out the window at three young deer standing motionless on the front lawn.
Then the smallest came and started nibbling at my pansy/tulip pots - a no-no!
I grabbed the camera - sorry a bit blurry - then tapped on the window and he
trotted off to join his family.

I've been out of commission, and may continue to be, when it
comes to blogging or much else regarding computers.
comes to blogging or much else regarding computers.
Just seem to have lost my get up and go since the holidays.
I still have shoulder problems . . . . .but I shouldn't complain
as other family members and friends have much more to be
worried about where health is concerned.
The squirrels are looking fat, healthy and bushy-tailed.
The females are now pregnant and should have their babies in February.
This one I noticed this morning, perhaps a mom-to-be.
Wildlife all around lately. The fox wanders through the side garden and
crosses the street to the little wood, same one where the deer hang out.
Today is warmer with sunshine and I've just wandered around, pulling a
few weeds, trying to decide just where to prune the Japanese maple and
fig in late Winter ready for Spring.
As my little sign outside the front door reminds me. . . . . . .
"A garden is a thing of beauty and a job forever"
Problems with Google, Blogger, and now big changes with
'new' PicMonkey have just caused me to lose interest in my
computer. I'm too old to learn new tech stuff. I was happy with
what I had and was used to. Why do they do this . . . . . okay,
okay I know why, we all know why, but that doesn't help sort it
all out unless you live with a smart IT person!
I used to tell Bob I wish I'd married a plumber or an electrician - a
general contractor would be even better. . . . .I can see clearly now,
I should have tied the knot with a computer genius!
Meanwhile, I'm enjoying time reading some great books. . . . .I'll
share those with you in another post.

I love how the squirrel's tale mimics the curve on the end of the hook. So cute. How interesting about the squirrel's being pregnant now. On a recent mild day Brett asked me what kind of nest was at the top of a tree in the woods. Right after I said "squirrel" we watched one run up the tree and jump into the nest followed by another who did the same thing. Well now... I guess we know what was going on up there :). I had to laugh at your thoughts on marrying a computer genius. Wouldn't that be helpful. I haven't been able to get my blogging going since the purchase of my newest computer took away my photo storage on Picassa. It seems way too complicated to be worth it anymore. I hope your shoulder feels better before long. I wonder if our unusually long stretch of rainy gray days around here is putting many of us in a bit of a slump?
ReplyDeleteOh dear Mary, I am so sorry that you are having so many problems. I feel the same right now. Too many changes and it is so difficult to catch up. At least you have warmer weather and you can see that spring is not so far away.
ReplyDeleteYou have the best looking squirrels and your photos are as special as ever. Don't give up. I so enjoy your posts.
Don't loose heart Mary - I used to blog much more frequently than I do now. Sometimes we put ourselves under far too much pressure.
ReplyDeleteWhen I renewed my subscription with PicMonkey I was also offered their 'new' PicMonkey, but I decided to ignore it and stick with the old editing. I looked at the 'new' and thought that it looked far more complicated than I wished to explore.
I have been pondering on travels this year and wondering if we dare go not knowing whether Brexit is going to create problems for us with passports etc. I decided that we only live once, let's just throw caution to the wind. Just two trips abroad this year and the rest will be spend seeing more of what our own country has to offer.
Sorry you've had computer woes, Mary. They do frustrate one. I have never been able to comment on a Google+ blog and I heard Google was going to get rid of it, but it doesn't seem to be happening any time soon. The wildlife in your garden is wonderful and must provide you with great entertainment!
ReplyDeleteYes, I can never leave comments on google+. Oh I hope you are feeling better soon. As I have heard, getting older is not for sissy's.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about your computer problems....I know it can be so frustrating. Love the snaps you shared of all of the lovely wildlife in your yard. xo
ReplyDeleteWhat super photos. The deer was being a bit naughty wasn't he!
ReplyDeleteComputers, so far no problems, but I wouldn't know where to start if I did have issues. I wonder sometimes if life was easier without them?
I love your wildlife photos. Sorry you are having computer problems. I haven't noticed any with Google Plus. I don't use PicMonkey, so I don't know what's going on with that. I was having problems with my photos uploading to OneDrive but I figured that one out...I had too many photos on there so was running out of storage room. I deleted a bunch of photos and it's working once again.
ReplyDeleteOh dear Mary, I understand about your PicMonkey issues, having recently downloaded it when I returned to blogging late last year. I find it extremely complicated and have a hissy fit each time I write a new blog post (hence they are few and far between while I get up to speed)!
ReplyDeleteI loved their old setup too and I could rattle up a post in about an hour. Now it takes me so long editing my photos, finding the font I like etcet - so frustrating....
What do we do?
Please don't make a rash decision as we all want you to stay... yours is the first blog I look at when I sign in.
LOve your deer and bushy tailed squirrel and of course your darling birds who know you will look after them during the long winter months!
xx
