It was time for yet another celebration recently. . . . . . so of course a
Holiday Party
required preparation and a hot oven in the kitchen!
"Bring on the New Year with traditional English mince pies" say I.
Little sweet pastry tart shells filled with sweet, fruity
mincemeat made from raisins, sultanas, apples and
spices. Served warm from the oven with melting rum or
brandy butter, they are yummy. . . . . . . and of course
don't forget the bottle of bubbly which definitely
turns any occasion into a party!!!
This is my little piece of 'holiday party' art for this week's theme on
Michael's SCRIBBLE PICNIC.
Hoping everyone had a fun time celebrating the arrival of the
New Year.
I'm raising a glass to good health, much happiness and joy, peace and prosperity for all.
Love it! I hope you had a marvelous celebration.
ReplyDeleteLove your scribble, love mince pies!
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteI love to bake, especially for the holidays. I didn't get to do near what I wanted to this time because of all the distractions with our old Camry falling into instant repair and then the purchase of our Avalon. We certainly didn't need the extra calories from the baked goods but still got plenty from the candy. lol Nice take for the SP challenge! Thanks for visiting today. :)
Your mince pies look so yummy! Nice job on this theme Mary.
ReplyDeleteWonderful take on the theme, Mary! I love the loose and free watercolour style....nicely done! I have always loved fruit mince pies and there are even vegan ones available now so I don't have to miss out.
ReplyDeleteAll the very best to you and your dear husband for 2019!
I bet your home smelled wonderful with all that baking. Happy New Year to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteI like what you are doing with the Waterlogue App!
ReplyDeleteI love your piece Mary! I can just smell that brandy butter! That was always my favourite part of mince meat pies!! :)
ReplyDeleteOK, dear Mary, I finally made time to read back through various posts of yours Ive missed with all our transitions and am all caught up now! I made it all the way back to Mother's Day last year, leaving you comments along the way which you no doubt will see if you, like me, keep older posts in moderation mode so not to miss any! :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder how your shoulder is now, btw? And did you ever actually ever truly declutter your Christmas decorations and lights some or will it be back to doing them all again the end of this year? :)
Sending love and good wishes to you and dear Bob. :)
I absolutely love mince pies. How wonderful to have some fresh made ones.
