Still working on getting the bedroom together.
Lots of changes continue to be made as we put our
edited items back into the closet and drawers.
I think we became packrats somewhere along the way.
Saying goodbye to stuff is not a problem for me. Another
person has difficulty. . . . . . . I won't go into messy details!!!
I've been working on framing new art for walls and arranging displays
on dresser tops, night stands etc.
These pretties above are packed away, other than the lamp.
Two white ginger jar lamps will remain, one on each side of the bed.
I've been looking for new lampshades as I made these swirled,
silk chiffon shades many years ago, however I just haven't found
replacements I like yet!
International news has become quite frightening as the Corona virus spreads.
Now the virus is here in our city, brought by a passenger flying from Seattle.
He dined in a restaurant in town last weekend so we are hoping he hasn't
spread the virus.
Hand sanitizer is no longer available anywhere in the area. . . . . . . washing
with good old soap and water should be done often.
Staying home is calming and I really don't mind it once bit.
This weekend will be good weather for garden chores.
Throw in a little baking - a crunchy loaf of bread, some pistachio muffins,
a pear cake, and make a mushroom and spinach quiche. . . . . I'll have
plenty to keep me busy for the time being.
I will not be traveling anywhere far for some time most likely.
What are your thoughts on COVID-19 and staying close to home.

Sraying at home seems to be much the safest option Mary. I dont want to go shopping amongst crowds of people. I'm taking a firm line with the Carers also, making sure they wipe all surfaces with hospital grade wipes. UK is also bereft of most sanitizing things also, total panic buying.
ReplyDeleteNo hand sanitizer or wipes here in Brisbane either. The virus has come to our city too, and while there are less than 20 people diagnosed with Corona, the authorities admit they can no longer control the spread. Bad news is they think 3 our of 4 of us will catch it. I am somewhat fearful and will stay home as much as possible. Unfortunately my husband is going out here, there and everywhere, and relying on his bottle of sanitizer! Your bedroom will be beautiful and I love that pretty pink lampshade, and admire your handiwork very much. Love your cooking menu: pistachio muffins sound a treat! xx
ReplyDeletePrayer and hand washing seems the best advice...oh, and don’t panic. I am sorry to hear that it is in your city and I hope that no one else contracts it. As for staying home, all well and good, but eventually one must get out. I do have a nice little pantry; it’s the medications that have me running.

DeleteYes, used to turn out a lot of handmade silk lampshades, mostly custom orders, now just have the ones in my own home. My mother taught me - she came from England to give me a crash course when I was recovering from my cancer surgery in the '80's - kept me busy and became a little extra income for me!

This new strain of virus isn't stopping me from going anywhere. We're flying to California on Monday to visit our son. Most of what we hear is sensationalized by the news media. I'm keeping track of updates through the CDC website instead. People are freaking out and stores are running out of hand sanitizer, wipes, canned food, bottled water and toilet paper.
ReplyDeleteIf I hadn't already set in motion a trip later this month I would stay close to home, but I am trying not to freak out and be prepared with hand wipes, etc. No touching my face too, now that one will be hard.

DeleteI'd love to stay at home, but although most of my work can be done from home, there are some things I am needed for on site at my clients', and so I still travel on public transport almost every day. And I am no more worried than all year round anyway - touching door handles and holding on to things while the crowded trains are rattling on has always been unhygienic, requiring thorough hand washing as soon as possible afterwards.

It is exactly the same in our house Mary - one of us hangs on to everything going right back to the year dot.
ReplyDeleteOne of my sons sent us an email telling us to stay at home and not to travel. However, we are both suffering from 'cabin fever' so have decided to take a quick break, but nearby.
I have several bottles of hand gel which I had to hand anyway as we always take it on trips.
I think that we should keep in mind the that fact that the population of our world is heading up towards 8 billion, but the amount of people with COVID-19 is still in the low thousands.

ReplyDeleteYour vacation at home sounds great. Maybe a good book or two to read when your not so busy. I have cancelled my trip to Sicily for now but will be ready to go at a moments notice when things settle down ... and they will.
WE have FOUR CASES three of which came off THAT CRUISE SHIP in our county.

ReplyDeleteAs Patricia said, the Coronavirus has hit Brisbane too and people are going crazy with the panic buying. The supermarket shelves are devoid of toilet paper as people bought them by the trolley-loads. Some people even had physical fights over them. I hope it won't get as bad as they say.
Oh this Corona virus is driving everybody nuts. I wish I could put cotton wool in my ears until it's all over. There are 3 confirmed cases in Malta. We'll see what happens but we're trying to avoid crowded places and trying to wash our hands more.
ReplyDeleteThese are uncertain times, and for a certain people and age groups very scary. I am not worried for myself, but I do worry for the older people in my family, and for my husband and people that have to travel a lot for work. I am washing my hand more than ever and struggling not to touch my face. I've never been one to touch my face but I do put my hair behind my ear and they say don't do that either.
