Despite the wet weather much of the weekend, we still enjoyed being
here at home. Both of us addressed 'paperwork' in its many shapes
and forms. Bob worked on his, sorting and shredding, at the kitchen
table, while I spent several hours at the dining room table working
on a new pocket sized 'password' book.
Life's very important small books. Yes, I do have two Passports
being a duel citizen of the United States of America and the
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
My Moleskine book is something I can't live without, especially when
traveling which I plan to do again some day! The former version had
become a disaster, just a muddle of usernames, passwords, 'secret
questions', phone numbers for everything and everyone.
Health, travel, computer, iPhone, family, online shopping. . . . .
pages and pages where it took ages to locate what I was searching
for at any given time.
My new book has a bright red cover - not only makes it easier to
find but more cheerful to look at!
The Mourning dove visited alone - I'm hoping so much that its mate is still around.
Same squirrel came daily to the porch all weekend - acting like a fluffy
vacuum cleaner as it gathered and gobbled more bird seed than the birds!
Mrs. Northern flicker is such a beauty! She and her mister appear to be
best friends with the bluebird family as they all wait their turn at the
suet feeders.
Our bluebird family continued to be extremely active in the inclement
weather, especially Sunday morning when as many as four perched
together along the flag pole getting soaked but not at all concerned by
the often heavy rain.
Here it is, Monday again and we have sunshine.
Off to walk soon before the sun goes down and the air turns cool.
The remainder of the week looks quiet and will be getting colder
toward next weekend. We are scheduled to receive vaccine #2 on
Sunday when there's a possibility of snow - fingers crossed it will
not impact our second visit to the hospital parking lot quite early on
Valentine's Day!
Enjoy your week dear friends.
Our passports expired during lockdown and we wont renew them till we know for sure they can be used! Too expensive to get and not use and I bet there is no refund here.
ReplyDeleteLove all your different birds.
Yes Ali, I agree passports are very expensive- both mine are good for many years so hopefully I'll make good use of them once again, one of these days!
DeleteGlad you enjoy my birds - they make being stuck at home a little brighter.
Hello Bob! Dealing with paperwork is a bit of a chore, but how great it is when things are sorted out. Passwords are terrible things and mine are very disorganized. Love your idea of a little notebook to keep everything in. Northern Flickers are so handsome - we see them in the woods here, but never in our garden. Have a good week, Mary.
ReplyDeleteI completed the new password book - what a job!
DeleteBob will never see the end of his paperwork I fear, but he is trying!
I have several notebooks, each used for different things. I do have a password book that has alphabetical tabs, which I really like, but I don't remember where I got it. There's online password keepers too, but I've never gone that route.
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen table. May I ask where you got it? We currently have a vintage wooden oval table but I don't like the drop leaves on the ends and it's also too small. I'd love more of a farmhouse table like yours with the white legs.
Melanie I've had that table so long - perhaps 30 yrs - so don't recall where I bought it! It's the right size for the narrow space. Now and then I see one similar for sale on Craigslist or Nextdoor - you should check your area. Used to have a set of wood chairs with it but purchased the galvanized metal French Tolix style in pewter to update the look several years back - they are smaller, fit under the table well, and are lighter to move which is good.

You really took advantage of the wet weather, and had all the satisfaction that comes from having sorted out a pile of paperwork and other "admin" stuff.
ReplyDeleteThe small, fluffy "vaccuum cleaner" made me smile :-)
That little devil of a 'vacuum cleaner' works better than those robot versions - perhaps I should tame him and bring him indoors to do my cleaning, lol!
DeleteWaiting to use my passport again!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, me too!
DeleteSo great to see Bob! I need to do what you did with passwords etc.
ReplyDeleteWe are both bored stupid this month - February was always my least favorite month on the calendar and now it's even worse!
DeleteVaccine 2, you are well ahead of us here. Such a relief to have it though.
ReplyDeleteSee you've had some harsh weather - hope all well at your home dear Barbara.
DeleteStay well x
Dear Mary, Is your desk as organized as Bob's? I'm impressed. I love Mourning Doves. It will be a while before they show up in our fields. Always love your beautiful birds.
ReplyDeleteThanks dear Gina. Mine is much more organized than his - I have an easier time getting rid of things!!!!
DeleteToday my mourning dove is back.....with a mate, lovely birds!
Getting your China/Covid vaccines... Ahhhhh, you are in a Southern State!!!! That's the *secret.* -smile-
ReplyDeleteYes, we're definitely south - you'd never know it this winter though as the weather is so miserable!
DeleteDearest Mary,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post with more colorful feathered and furry garden critters!
Too bad that such captivating photos are not visible in the thumbnails of Blog Lists that most have on the side bar on their blog... Look at mine, yours only shows the title but NO IMAGE. For avoiding that in the new Blogger format, go to my present post where I share a valuable tip from Dutch Blogger Friend.
Hugs,
Mariette
I replied on your blog dear.
DeleteMary -
Just found it when I got home Mary!
DeleteThoroughly enjoyable report with bird photos to boot!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of getting a password manager program but really, a little booklet is more my style...
Yes, I prefer a book too!
DeleteThanks for the pictures of the Northern Flicker and the Eastern Bluebird. We are looking forward to both species returning in the spring, although in recent years a few bluebirds have toughed out the winter with us. We are already approaching mid February so spring is within sight.
ReplyDeleteHello David - thanks so much for stopping by. Glad to share my birds with others who never see them, especially in winter when they always seem extra special as they prepare for springtime.
DeleteMary -
Great work being done by you and Bob ! We have never done so much since this pandemic started ! It's been so good to get lots of jobs done that usually fall by the wayside because there were much more fun things to do before Covid took over ! Chris and I have had our vaccinations and lots of jobs are getting done. XXXX
ReplyDeleteJackie, glad you guys are getting vaccinated already. Yes, we've tackled some home jobs but have a long way to go to de-clutter and downsize. I now know I'm never going to be a minimalist though, sigh!!!!
DeleteMary x
I am particularly intrigued by your Mrs. Flicker. I am not sure I have seen one with those colors. I must see Mr. Flicker in our yard and not notice the Mrs.
ReplyDeleteYes, this time of year is a good time to do paperwork. Good luck.
I soon must renew my passport. Moleskin little books are so special.
Marilyn the only difference, and way to distinguish them, is the male has a black ‘mustache’ as well as the black ‘necklace’.
DeleteBeautiful birds!
Mary, you will indeed travel again as will we all and when we do I hope we can finally meet! I love seeing your weekend at home, your squirrel reminds me of the one the visits our feeder. As for the photos of your birds, beautiful! I do not know too many birds but love to see them at the feeder. I hope you are staying warm and dry.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
Your bird photos are excellent. Good you are getting your second China/Covid virus vaccine soon, I have an appt. for my second one in a week, here in California.
