Sizing up the cats -

These cute brothers recently moved in with my friend Vanessa - she went
to adopt one and ended up with two - they are adorable and it's wonderful
 knowing they are staying together.

I love all cats. On my first safari trip to Africa in 2010 I was amazed to get this
close to the leopard and took many photos of this beautiful boy in Botswana.
Sitting quietly in the open vehicle I was able to watch him close by in the tree,
and when he climbed down and walked calmly away along the trail he wasn't
bothered by us at all, thankfully!

On a trip to Kenya in 2015, this young male leopard named Twig
 was seen often during our game drives. . . . . . .

. . . . . . . but this morning I'm with Nala, my neighbor's cat. I can tickle her ears,
and perhaps have a cuddle, always nice!

We are preparing for our first travel away from home since
the start of the pandemic. It feels odd not having packed a suitcase
in so long. I'll keep you posted.

  2. Your friend's new kittens are marked so beautifully, but no cat can beat Nala's. She's a beauty. I am so glad that you will be traveling again. Travelers such as yourselves must have felt so thwarted.

  5. Dearest Mary,
Congrats to your friend Vanessa for adopting two brother kitties! They are far better off staying together.
You have been so lucky for being able to observe the big cats! Wow.
For your friend this is a great blog from writer Leah: https://catwoodsporchparty.wordpress.com/
Finished her excellent book while being at the Cabin in Tennessee and it is such a treasure on information. Her blogposts are also very warm and even her FB Page. https://www.facebook.com/catwoodsporchpartyandblackcatfest/
    Hugs and enjoy your travel!

  10. Love the cat pictures - big AND small! As you know, I'm a cat lover, too. Exciting that you're finally traveling! We've been on day trips, but nothing overnight yet. But that's only because (speaking of cats), we don't have a cat sitter. However, we plan on going on our first overnight trip to Michigan in Sept for our anniversary. We have two nearby friends who said they can pop in and feed the cats, clean the litter boxes, etc.

  11. Dear Mary, how wonderful that you are going on a trip. These days, a trip to anywhere is precious! I cannot believe for twenty years we went overseas almost every year, plus closer trips to New Zealand or other parts of Australia. Now we cannot even go to Sydney to see the twins. How times have changed. Sorry for the rant...the leopard is a beautiful creature, and it must have been a thrill to aim the camera at him. Love the little kitties playing with the paper, so cute. xxx

  12. I'm still hesitant about travelling. My main concern is that our flights might get cancelled since nothing is settled yet.
