They bloomed..................



.......the large, fragrant, papery blossoms of 
Ipomoea alba appeared this evening.

The knobbly seeds planted lightly in the pot in Spring, struggled through the desert-like conditions of early Summer. Then, with prodigious amounts of water, a handful of granular nourishment, and whispers each heavy, humid evening as the sun sank lower and the bats flew from the trees, it happened. Magical.............opening quickly, scattered like ladies delicate hankies tossed nonchalantly into the clambering vines. Illuminated perfectly when the camera flash went off..............the moonflowers in all their pristine beauty on the front porch.  


Summer in the south is truly here at last.
