Beautiful landscape.............
The look on the Chickadee's little face says it all......................brrrrr! Let's get this cold garden back to normal, enough snow, ice, and temperatures in the teens, we want warm. It's amazing how these tiny birds survive through a Winter such as this one.
Only the garden ornaments can stand long days and nights as cold as these recent ones.
Although it WAS pretty that first day, now the snow is melting and by New Year's Eve the predicted 60 degrees will turn it all to slush..............until then I wait, feeling much like this, frozen in time with a heavy head!
No mall shopping for leftover bargains.............don't need them anyway. No walks in the park - I'm fearful of driving on the ice to get there........
...............and my cycling days are just a memory!
So I circle the garden, snapping images before the beauty disappears. The potting shed looks like a cabin in the woods..........
............with icicles dripping, green leaves still hang on the Akebia vine which tolerates the cold well.
The Christmas tree in the gazebo DID get decorated after all. Now it stands as part of the Winter wonderland.............and will be there for some time until warmer days arrive! Look how the snow formed a row of pretty miniature 'pine trees' on the lower gazebo screen - just noticing this as I post - Nature's decoration is everywhere.
So little Chickadee, stop frowning and stick it out for a few more days...........warm weather will return.........
.......and meanwhile you have a choice of housing to shelter you.
These bird boxes have been the nesting sites of the Chickadees for several Springs. I like to think they may also be their nighttime homes in cold weather.

It's been cold here in Florida but we're not having to deal with snow. I love it to fall then melt and it looks like that isn't going to happen there. Loved all you photos Mary. Stay safe and warm.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics, though I must agree we have had enough now!!!
ReplyDeleteStay warm

The little chickadee looks like he feels the same way I do. I am not a cold weather person. I do like watching the snow fall and then taking some pictures, then I am ready for some warmer days. Friday is supposed to be around 60 here. I can't wait! Carla
ReplyDeleteThat little bird looks so cold. But very cute.
ReplyDeleteI love the tree on your gazebo! And I am so happy that warm weather is on it's way for you.
ReplyDeleteXO,

I'm ready for warmer weather to return too! That little chickadee does look rather miffed that it is this cold! We are suppose to have warmer weather in the low 60's by the weekend also.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyable and sweet post!
ReplyDeleteIt has all been just perfect! This was the perfect snow. Ours is slowly melting now, and if we have the weekend predicted temperatures, it will be a memory.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are enjoying this holiday season.
Surprise, we are home Mary and looking at a ton of snow much like yours. I scrolled down to visit the posts I have missed and they are just breathtaking Mary. Your bird shots are so much fun to see. The variety of birds must be thrilling to see each day. Your yard and home has been transformed to a winter wonderland. We extended our stay in Florida because of all the snow. We were afraid our car wouldn't make it up our driveway and it didn't. sigh. We walked up about 200 yards to our home. It was good to be home. Bill has been shoveling lots of snow.
ReplyDeleteI know you had a lovely Christmas and I hope you have a blessed and happy new year in 2011.
Stay warm and make soup. Smile! It makes the house smell delicious.
Love, Jeanne

Loving your winter wonderland from afar. Beautiful pictures in your yard. I was surprised to see ornaments on your tree. I figured you just had lights. So pretty and love seeing the chickadees too.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like magic in the air! We got a little bit of that snow too, but even more this past week. I love the photo of the little chickadee!
