We have lost a lovely and loved woman.
My mother-in-law, after ninety six years of sharing her
kindness and great love, has gone home to be with her
many family members and dearly loved friends who left this
earth in years gone by.
It hurts so much to lose a person who was good and gracious,
gentle, yet strong when necessary. Her infectious smile and
natural beauty enveloped us all for a very long time, and
for that we are so grateful.

ReplyDeleteAs I read your mother-in-law's name I thought of the shared history of the east coast of our two countries. So many Canadians from Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick went south to work in the mills of New Hampshire. We have cousins, still, in some of those mill towns.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have been following your blog more than 2 years now. The person who had made me know about you has died in a car accident almost 2 years ago. He did not speak English but used google translate to read about your travels. He had admired you and your chances to travel.

It is such a wrench to lose our mothers - they are the glue that holds the family together and we all wish they could be with us for ever.
She reached a great age and lived through so many significant events in history. I see she was born near the end of the First World War, so she was 10 or so when the Great Depression hit. My parents also lived through those times and because of the Depression they were very careful to use their money wisely - there were no great 'splash outs' in our home! It was another era.
