Spring weather in the southeast -

When the white fog rolls in and mixes with the blanketing yellow
pollen, the garden takes on an otherworldly feeling.
Early morning veiled and faded.
Spring can't decide whether to be kind or cruel.
Teased over the weekend with a little of this and a little of that -
mix of fog, rain, clouds, chill, warmth, and late day peeks of sunshine.

Today arrived with a dire forecast which includes the possibility
of severe storm activity including tornadoes!
The temperature will reach 82F this afternoon and then only dip
to 67F during the night - not a good sign.
Maybe battening down the hatches today is a good idea - and
wishing we lived some place else!!!

Faded views from the garden.

Our State Flower........

Damp, foggy start to the day. The white dogwoods are blooming, the beautiful
pink shades will bloom a week or so later. I cut just one sprig to bring indoors.
Not much sun today but afternoon will be warm. Just driving through the
neighborhood is joyful with so many dogwood trees. No matter which
direction you cast your eyes, dainty drifts of white and green are
 everywhere......so beautiful.
The dogwood is the state flower of North Carolina - how lucky for us.

My small dogwood in the back garden.

Post card from the edge!

My friend Jeanne of the lovely blog Collage of Life, recently mailed more of her
fabulous post card collection to any readers who wanted to receive one. I jumped
on the band wagon of course, having received a beautiful one from when she lived
in Vietnam. Jeanne is now settled back in the US in New Hampshire after an exciting
life in many different countries.

My card arrived last week and I really love it. It reminds me a little of ME!
It's a cover illustration from the London Review of Books.
On the back Jeanne, knowing I travel, added a lovely greeting, plus
 this quote by Marcel Proust. . . . . . .

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes,
but in having new eyes."

Jeanne also added two smaller sticker quotes. . . . . . . .

Every road should have a path
and
A Strange and Wonderful Place

Amazing how one small post card can carry so much
interest and joy many miles around the world.
That's why snail mail is still such fun to me.
