First Days of March in the Garden. . . . . . .

Already some beautiful blooms outside the cottage windows.

Took these photos yesterday. Meanwhile, this morning, after light showers
during the night, the temperature has cooled a little. Now, the sun is shining and
the daffodils have opened all around the cottage and are blowing in the breeze.
I'll be out there again later to cut some for a vase.

Hope your garden is waking up now that Spring is on its way.
For those of you still with snowy conditions, I hope you enjoy
looking at the flowers, and that yours will soon be adding color
to your very own garden.

  1. Hi Mary,

I believe nature must be one or two weeks ahead in your part of the world. Isn't it beautiful to see those first signs of spring. It always makes me happy!

Thank you for your sweet comments on my blog too!

  2. Lovely photos of the flowers in bloom in your garden. The shots showing the Magnolia is beautiful. My Iris won't be flowering for a awhile, and I lost all the buds on my young Camellia due to frost we had just after Christmas. I'm sure you are happy you didn't lose the buds when you had the freezing rain not so long ago.

  4. Your photos are lovely! I am so eager for blooms here, in Michigan, but will have to settle for a potted hyacinth for now... and for blog photos. Thank you!

  5. Beautiful photos Mary. We have cooler temps here too after yesterday being in the low 70's. Tomorrow I am heading out to get some things to make a spring wreath.

  8. Wow, lovely blooms. There is nothing like that in these southwest Virginia hills yet, but the blooms will come. Yesterday was warm but today was a lion for sure. I think the high was 31F. and it was very windy. Thanks for sharing with us so we can get a foretaste of what is to come.

  9. Beautiful, Mary! Our redbud trees are gorgeous as are the tulip trees in the neighborhood. Is that a tulip tree bloom you show? Other things in bloom are iris, roses, and alstroemeria. Yes, the garden is waking up. '-)

  12. Such lovely angles and light in your photos. The magnolia bud is so elegant looking. Flowers are popping up here, too. It's a wonderful time of year!

  13. Like Alexandra, I LOVE Spring. In fact, it is my fave season, esp. here in Colorado where it is the only time it is fairly green (not "lush," mind you)! Clearly, NC season comes a lot sooner than here where we are only just now getting a glimpse of some crocus heads popping up from the undergrowth. Daffodils are about a month away when they will bud forth only to die back less than a fortnight after that! Boo. those are my fave flowers.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing more of your garden shots as the seasons change. I always enjoy your outdoors shots. All so lovely.
