Happy St. Patrick's Day. . . . . . . . . .

Top 'o the morning to you all.
Whether Irish or not, perhaps you still celebrate
today with a traditional pint of green beer, corned beef
and cabbage, colcannon. . . . .

. . . . . or my favorite, a nice loaf of traditional Irish Soda Bread.
Eat it all today slathered in good Irish butter, because tomorrow
it won't be half as good!

Bob, whose grandfather hailed from County Kerry, will be 'wearing
the green' today!  Meanwhile, we are busy planning our upcoming trip
to beautiful Ireland this Spring - I'm excited as I've never been there.
We'll be roughing it through the glorious Irish countryside, searching for
family among all those thousands of Sullivans who didn't get on a
boat to America back when.
Guess starting at the pubs will be a good idea, after we kiss the
Blarney Stone!!!

Enjoy your day - you must have a wee bit of Irish in you.

  1. Neither of us have even the tiniest bit of Irish in us but love Ireland. Do visit the Giant's Causeway and also make that splendid journey around the south from Bantry Bay where the gulf stream enables exotic plants to bloom. J'adore the little shamrock at the tail end of your signature Mary♡

  4. Oh my goodnesss, Mary, you are going to have a wonderful time in Ireland. I went on a bus tour in 1996. Yes, I know that was awhile ago... but the memories I have of that place are very vivid in my mind. Do a little enjoying for me, please.

  6. Leftover Shepherd's Pie at our house...not sure that's necessarily Irish. Then an Irish tea cake. I do love soda bread, but we don't eat it up and just as you say, it is best the first day. Happy St. Pat's to you and I am excited that you will be going to Ireland this spring. Spring in Ireland must surely be glorious.

  7. Your soda bread does look just delicious. How wonderful to be planning an adventure in Ireland soon. Wishing we had time for Ireland too on our adventure, but I will have to enjoy it through your eyes.

  8. Not a scrap of Irish in me, but Tim has some. But other than a little pinch this morning because neither of us were wearing green, we don't mark the day. Happy St. Patrick's Day to you and Bob! Ireland will be a beautiful place to visit.

  9. I have a tad o' the Irish - but mostly Native American - and I do love St. Patrick's Day - and Irish Soda bread. Can't wait to see the lovely photos from your trip to Ireland later in the year. Enjoy it doubly for me, as I fear I never shall go there in this life.

  10. I love Kerry Gold butter and did have an Irish soda bread with raisins muffin at our local bakery that was excellent but other than that, must admit, i really don't like that traditional Irish food. Sometimes my ex would make it on St. Patrick's Day as her family was Irish on both sides. Since then, done nothing. I realised just this year that I don't even own one piece of green. Whoa. I feel like David Tutera who also doesn't do green. Too funny. Hope your St. Paddy's Day was good.

I'm so looking forward to your Ireland photos. Only my mother has been there and she went when it was cold and said it was the coldest in fact she had ever been. That is saying something! Wow.
