. . . . . . unfortunate happenstance!

. . . . . . . and I need to get moving!

OK. I know what I'm facing so now I can work on relieving the shoulder pain!
I have rotator cuff syndrome requiring a course of physiotherapy prior to
any invasive treatment. . . . . . .which hopefully will not be needed if I do as
I'm told.
I've returned to a practice (my third time over several years) where
I can continue PT with 'magical' Brian who got me through other painful
incidents. I felt lucky finding almost all the staff at this business still working
there, from the smiling receptionists to the qualified professional
physiotherapists and massage specialists. Today's visit - yes they fit me in
immediately - was almost like going home with hugs and "welcome backs."

No raking leaves, vacuuming, lifting anything heavy, reaching,
pushing, pulling etc. Lots of exercises, ice packs and pain pills, sigh.
Can I be wearing out?

Christmas decorating may have to be kept to a minimum this year!

Recalling the days. . . . . . . . .

Remember those days - those precious days
when backs were hardly thought about.
Youth had no time for aches and pains.
Getting out of bed to start the day was easy.
Doing anything was easy, and pain free.

Did you run, skip, do handstands, and back bends?
Were you a gymnast, a skier, a cheerleader, a dancer?
Did you dance the romantic tango?

There are about 16 treatment rooms at my physiotherapist practice.
I've been stretched to my limits in most of them, then relaxed with a
heating pad and ocean sounds. I always choose the ocean which is
so peaceful, and sometimes, I admit, I have a little 15 minute snooze
at the end of my session.

This vibrant print was hanging in Monday's treatment room. . . .
I love it and wish my back could do those sensuous tango bends.
Meanwhile, there is good news, the hip and leg pain caused by my
arthritic spine problem is so much better after two months of PT. . .
and an injection. I am so thankful to those who have helped me.
Chronic pain is so debilitating and depressing.
I will go on my trip next week and hopefully be able to do
everything - but I will be careful too.

Decor Doldrums. . . . . . . .

Are you feeling like me these long dreary winter days?
Completely in the *doldrums when it comes to redecorating, or even dusting
for that matter! Do you like playing in your house, moving your collections
around, changing up vignettes on tables and shelves, hanging your art on a
different wall, moving the furniture about. . . . . . . anything to make your home
 a comfortable space for you?
I'm confessing right now - I'm not doing a thing when it comes to any of the
above - including much housework, other than the truly necessary chores such
as kitchen and bathrooms. The dust from the fireplace has dulled anything shiny.
Spring cleaning is on my mind.
I look about the rooms and know I need some motivation. I'm hoping
it might come today. With the weekend looking up weather wise, above
freezing, sunshine, no rain, perhaps my energy will return. . . . .
or I might just decide to take some time outdoors enjoying almost
Spring weather. Clocks go forward one hour here Saturday night.
My weekly schedule now includes two physiotherapy sessions in hopes
my spine/leg problem will improve without having that nasty surgery any time soon.
I will also be back to walking more once it's warmer, and I'm definitely thinking
that some much missed antiquing needs to start up again. This weekend I hope to
get over to Suzanna's Antiques watch this space for new treasures
I'll share with you.

*doldrums ~ a state or period in which
there is no activity or improvement. . .
