Napa and Sonoma..................the two valleys so well known for creating elegant California wines. Visiting there on Monday meant driving North through San Francisco and across the Golden Gate Bridge.
The day was cloudy but who cared....................San Francisco is beautiful in any weather.
Stopping on the Sausalito side of the Golden Gate, we took time for a short hike on the Marin Headlands giving us an opportunity to get great images of the bridge, bay, and city, everything looking silver and grey under the heavy cloud cover........my favorite colors anyway!
OK......here it is, a pic of me taking a pic (taken by Paula) on the chilly, windy Marin Headlands.
.................then we continued North under a few patches of blue sky - no rain fortunately.
........see you next time in California's beautiful valleys.
Oh you have brought back memories of our stay in SF 18 months ago. That bridge is something isn't it? Enjoy your trip and I look forward to comparing photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful photos. I'm so glad you're having fun.
ReplyDeleteOh my Gosh Isn't the Golden Gate Bridge beautiful and Sausalito ~ well, the memories. Have fun! Enjoy your trip ;-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures...can't wait to see more! Carla
ReplyDeleteI loved Napa and Sonoma when were went there a few years ago. Honestly, I would love to live there....it reminds me so of France and Italy.
ReplyDeleteWhen we flew into San Fran, it was sunny, but as we came to the Golden Gate Bridge, it became so foggy you could only see about two feet ahead..we didn't get very good pictures. I am glad you were able too!
Have fun! Favorite wine discovered there...Landmark (the vineyard)Overlook Chardonay.
Hugs,
Penny
Just as I expected Mary - you're having a great time and taking fabulous photos! Hope you have as much fun for the rest of your trip.
ReplyDeleteThis bridge is iconic, especially to a Brit like me. I haven't seen it (yet) but going over the bridge into New York for the first time and listening to Frank Sinatra singing New York, New York was enough last year to bring tears to my eyes (and down my cheeks!)
ReplyDeleteGoodie for you Mary. What wonderful pictures. So glad you can travel and enjoy so many wonderful things. Blessings to you and all.

Love your photos...such great angles and composition! I've seen that bridge so many times, but you captured it very artistically.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - I've never been there, but the scenes are iconic. Someday....
ReplyDeleteI've seen lots of photos of the Golden Gate bridge before but this is the first time I've seen one acutally driving across it. My elder son was in San Francisco a couple of years ago and they loved it - even pushing a buggy up and down all the hills:)
ReplyDeleteLooks like your having so much fun, I know you'll have even more in the wine country.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to that part of the US (but further north across the border into B.C.) and you have taken some excellent photos of the famous bridge and great scenery! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of San Francisco. I love it there and your photos make me want to visit again soon.
ReplyDeleteOh Mary..these pictures are absolutely amazing...it was almost as good as being there:)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the tour of SF...
Blessings....
xoxo Gert
I love this bridge and your pictures are wonderful. When my mom was a young woman she walked across the bridge and told me it was so windy that her hat flew away. I have been over this bridge many, many times.
ReplyDeleteMary, your photos are so beautiful!! Have a grand time in Wine Country!!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
ReplyDeleteLove your photos of the GG Bridge. Can't wait to see where you go in the wine country. You're in my neck of the woods!
I've never seen that part of California, perhaps one day. Looks like you had a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteTake Care,
Ulrike
