Christmas was lovely though very quiet.
Boxing Day is my favorite day on the calendar no matter
the weather. I embrace it as 'my very own day' when
nothing urgent needs to be addressed, cooked, baked,
poured, or served at a specific time.
A roaring fire, a footstool, a cozy throw and a great
book sound perfect. . . . . . especially as it's very,
very cold!
Those super blue skies can be deceiving when the air is so crisp and cold. That's how it was for us yesterday. We actually broke out our electric radiator for the bedroom and I slept much better last night. Happy holidays!
ReplyDeleteCompliments of the season, Mary. It seems surreal to hear about roaring fires and throws while here in the Southern Hemisphere I sit in shorts and tee under a fan trying its best to cool things down. Enjoy your rest day. Jo
ReplyDeleteIt looks and sounds lovely and cosy, dear Mary! Enjoy your day exactly as you like it. Good book? What are you reading?
ReplyDeleteJust started French aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry 1900-1944 - "WIND, SAND AND STARS" - A National Geographic 'Top Ten Adventure Book of all Time'. The New York Times review included this quote" A beautiful book, a brave book, and a book that should be read against the confusion of this world."
DeleteMary -
Enjoy your ongoing holidays Meike.
Oh yes Mary I agree with your way of celebrating Boxing Day. Hope your Christmas was wonderful and have a Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect day. It is only 45 degrees here this morning in Naples, Fl!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect day to me Mary. Not much being done here in S.W. Ontario Canada. We had a white Christmas, 9 inches white. This morning, Boxing Day, eleven inches of snow and there are still flakes coming down.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day, I know I am going to also.
Patricia.
We awoke to more snow here. I love it for the holidays, especially since traveling is not the plan this Christmas. Yes, it was quiet, but lovely. There really was a simple serene feeling this Christmas. I hope that others got that feeling.
ReplyDeleteSounds great! I am concerned that there may have to be lawn mowing at this rate. Look how green the grass is! Enjoy the day...I am about to lie down for a long nap.
ReplyDeleteMuch the same is going on here today, too. Leftovers for meals, a puzzle to work on, some books, and perhaps a walk. Happy Boxing Day, Mary!
ReplyDeleteSounds like it is colder there than it is here in the Pacific NW. Boxing day is a lovely day after. I finished a book today.
ReplyDeleteDear Mary,
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty little yellow house with a red door, you live in.
Thanks Gina.
DeleteActually door is natural wood - oak I think - and we just keep it stained. The leaded glass
oval insert is lovely and allows more light into our small entryway. I had this door installed as a birthday present for Bob many years ago!
Hope you and Bob had a lovely Christmas! It was quiet here, just the two of us, though we did run to my mom's house to surprise her and drop off her gifts. Boxing day, we went to a few stores to check out winter clearance (disappointing selection) and to pick up some groceries. Today - taking down all the Christmas decor!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like the perfect way to enjoy Boxing Day. Here it was quiet, as I poured over some books I got as gift and sipped on some tea. It was a perfect day.
