Eugéne Samuel Grasset (Swiss 1845-1917)
Color Wood Engraving from his portfolio Les Mois -1895
This has always been one of my favorite depictions of December as
Christmas approaches - snow, hellebores, wind, a warm red dress, cozy wrap,
and a huge bunch of mistletoe. . . . . . but no kissing under it this year!
Love that picture, Mary.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and a Happier New Year.

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Mary. It's a lovely picture.
ReplyDeleteYes, that style of artwork has such a unique look. I have kept a few cards for many years in that style. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful engraving! Merry Christmas to you and Bob, dear Mary. xx
ReplyDeleteA beautiful picture, and I love the idea of snow with a touch of red at Christmas - despite living in the tropics! We have enjoyed three snowy Christmas times in the Northern Hemisphere, and there is no doubt it is absolutely beautiful. Best wishes to you for a blessed and lovely Christmas, dear Mary. xx
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and Bob, dear Mary!
ReplyDeleteHellebores are so beautiful and special, aren't they. My Mum has some planted in a large bowl on her balcony on the table, so that she and my Dad can always look at them when they sit inside at the dining table.
No kissing this year? Not even Bob?
Hi Mary! Wishing you a lovely Christmas season!!! xx
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas to you and Bob ~ and good health and happiness for 2021! Thank you for your blog and your friendship.

It is gorgeous! Merry Christmas to you and Bob!
ReplyDeleteI love those antique pictures, they represent the reality and simpleness about Christmas past.
ReplyDeleteI will just kiss dear hubby as we both contracted COVID this year and went thru it with no major symptoms, but with a very extensive treatment that lasted two weeks, but COVID lasted three weeks till I was free, hubby took him two more weeks.
Thank you pretty lady for your sweet and kind comment you left me the other day.
I too wish you, your hubby and the rest of your family a beautiful, snowy and very blessed Christmas.
