First things first!

. . . . . . . . . .so when I got home Wednesday evening I did two things important to me.

I cut a small bunch of the now blooming hydrangeas for the kitchen window sill, 

then headed to the potting shed to refill the empty bird feeders.  

Blues and greens of every hue from the same bush - they are such amazing

 flowers - and this year there are hundreds of blooms now opening on my

 four shrubs.

Ms. Woodpecker, the first arrival, came almost immediately after I hung

 the feeder in the late day sunshine.

These two small beautiful things outside in the garden took my mind

off my delayed bag. I worried all day yesterday that I would never see 

it again, then at 10:00PM last night a text message, a phone call, and

 a nice young man delivered it to my door.  Needless to say, I breathed

 a sigh of relief and thanks.

Here's a wake up photo!  

Ms. Jane Doe was back yesterday afternoon around 5PM. Just happened to

 look out and saw her under the fig tree eating some of the dropped fruits.

 She saw us looking at her through the glass storm door and didn't seem at all

 concerned - I think she's may be getting too tame, or she just likes what's on 

our garden menu!  

She certainly is photogenic - and look at those eyelashes!
I took over fifty photos but will just share few here.

'Jane' then moved on to the bird feeder which was almost empty from so many

 hungry birds hanging out these hot days.  We allowed her to nibble for a short

 while, and I took my photos - before clapping hands and shooing her off - though 

how she actually gets the seeds out those small holes made for tiny bird

 beaks, is beyond me!

She is so sweet - and I'm almost ready to forgive her a bit of nibbling as she must 
eat - but I'm wondering where the rest of her family might be. I hope she's not an
 orphan and that they have moved on leaving her here alone.

Good garden friends. . . . . . . .

It's been a while since I've seen chipmunk activity in the garden. 

This little cutie showed up a few days ago rustling about under the front

 garden feeder, picking up fallen sunflower seeds. . . . . . .along with

 Mrs. Cardinal whom you can see stuffing her beak with seeds. 

They apparently are friendly toward one another, remaining long 

enough for me to grab the camera and take a few shots from the

dining room window.

Rain last week brought a growth spurt in the garden. A couple of years back

 a chipmunk was living in a burrow under the plant to the left of the birdbath - perhaps

 this is same one!

I've also seen it out here in back, again picking up seeds under the feeders.

Loving the cheery look on this little cutie as he/she holds that seed with those

 tiny sharp claws. . . . . . .wildlife such as these delightful creatures are 

always welcome in my garden.

 We spent several hours working in the garden yesterday as the temperature

 was pleasant - now it's heading back up in the 90's for the week ahead - much

 too warm for me!
